Hinckley Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 Here's another MOC for the Fabuland Builder's Guild. It's another recreation of an existing set: 121 Roadster The European name was Moe Mouse and his supercab but I remember my instructions saying it was Mitchell Mouse and his roadster, so I've named it accordingly. This was the first Fabuland set I received and I consider it the first Fabuland set released, since it is the first in numerical sequence for the first production year. Anyway, I thought Mitchell deserved an updated Roadster. I'm very happy with the result when it comes to the function, but will do some more work on the form when I get an order in from BL...here's what I mean: Here's Mitchell with his new roadster... ...and here's Mitchell in his new roadster... ...and with the top down. Click here for the full gallery I really like the way the roof functions, but like I said, I'm not very happy with the way it looks. I want to change the tires and mudguards and make it look a little older, so I'll see if I can't make some more room for a better looking roof. I want the back edge to curve, but couldn't get it right without leaving no room for a driver once the top was down. I know how I want it to look and how I need it to work, I just can't get the two to meet. Here are some more pictures... Click any pic to see the full gallery... Enjoy! I'm looking forward to your feedback. Quote
cartoondude Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 AWESOME!! I love the way the trunk folds back Quote
Asuka Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 What a nifty and beautiful car that is.... and its ingenious back section reminds me a lot of Donald´s cool 313, a 1934 Belchfire Runabout.... pretty cool. Quote
Shadows Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 The European name was Moe Mouse In this update, he becomes Mo Money Mouse I really like the way the roof functions, but like I said, I'm not very happy with the way it looks. I'd change the roof to grey or black, the rims to grey, and keep it like it is (unless you can do a little something with that roof curve). Then I'd consider it a new model and not an update of the original. As for your other ideas, I'd start over completely and make it an older style from the ground up instead of trying to readapt this. It's what happens to me with decals sometimes. I make one and it isn't working, then I fix it and it turns out to be something else. Then I try to make the something else back into what I wanted, and it never works, frustrating me. At that point, I keep the result I liked and start over on the original intent. Bottom line, I like it, I'd love it without the yellow, I'd definitely keep it and build another as an update. Didn't I just say all that twice? Oh, and very nice job on the folding roof, I'm stealing that sometime. Quote
LegoLyons Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 Thats special. Love it. Looks sleek and I would drive that! Love the roof and how it folds, the bonnet and grill fir together perfectly too, and the headlights are cool. Good job. Quote
WhiteFang Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 This roadster is really very awesome. Black is real sleek and suitable well for this vehicle. I am very impressed by the roof mechanism. Quote
