Can anyone give me an opinion on what I may buy?

Ultimate Lightsaber Duel/Darth Vader Transformation (2005)

or

Slave I/Jedi Starfighter (2002)

Thoughts? Complaints? Comments? Suggestions? I need all the help I can get. Suggest something else if you like! I'd like to buy one or the other, but any great idea could change my mind easily.

Tough call. In all honestly, I didn't think that the ultimate duel was that interesting, so I passed on it. It was too much of a playset. The transformation annoyed me because the Darth minifigure didn't have a cape. Lame!

I did buy the 2002 Slave I. This is the Jango version, right? I think it was worth it for the Fett family. The 02 Slave I had kind of a flimsy construction, and the proportions were off. But, the newer Boba Fett version is a far superior model, and it comes with IG88 and Dengar! So, you might consider that as a better alternative, unless your really out for prequel era sets.

You should check out the www.brickset.com reviews to get other opinions, too. I find that site very useful.

Idk, I only have Vader Transformation and Slave 1. Both are great part packs and have some nice minifigs! But Tacitus is right in saying that the new one is probably better, although I don't own it and can't completely confirm that. I think it's also about what color scheme which minifigs you like better. Judging from images, I would say the Jedi Starfighter wasn't that great, but the Lightsaber Duel seems to have some interesting parts to offer.

I have neither of the sets, didn't buy the ULD for the same reasons Tacitus did not get it. But I regret it now.

After all this is the set where Vader and Obi-Wan had their epic battle! Besides, the more I look at it on pictures the more I come to like it.

The Slave I is very worth it for the minifigs I think.

But, correct me if I'm wrong, is the ULD not way more expensive than the Slave I atm?

Best regards, Benny

I own the ULD and I can say its a good set for parts but very flimsy, the sticks to move Vader and Obi doesnt work well and its a bit boring. The Vader transformation is other set I own and is pretty cool to be a vig style set, I like it and the Vader burned figure is great. I didnt own the slave I but it looks like a pretty cool set so if I m you I will go with the slave I but it have a more accurate version the 2006 one so if you really like Jango go for the first and if Boba is what you want go for the 2006 version  .

If playability is bad with the ULD, do you have it on display?

Is it good for display or does it just look boring and, mhm, don't know how to say it proper - *not real*? Or *not-a-bit-movie-like*?

I didnt like so much the playability and I have it on display. The set looks cool on display because the use of trans-orange colors so if you want it for display it looks cool but continue with that touch of boring.

It seems more like a display model, but the cheapest I could find was 90.

And no, the Slave I Jango is generally 20 bucks more expensive than ULD. That's kind of a waste when I think about it. I've lost some of my interest.

Any suggestions? I've got a clean pallete. My reason for not buying the Slave I is, despite it being my ALLTIME favourite ship, I've already bought it. It's in pieces and is missing, but there's no sense in buying another if you ask me. I liked Cloud City, but that's got a huge price tag for only 600 pieces. Forget that.

I wish we could get another Cloud City set! With the Twin Pod Car, more Bespin Guards, Lando, and the works. But the first one was blocky compared to circular, so i guess that's what would make it different.

EDIT: I like the Cantina, but that's so expensive right now. Plus, it seems to be a playset... :(. The final blow is that nothing will go with it. But still, I love the sandspeeder, and I wish they'd make an Imperial Spy like in LSW The Complete Saga.
