Can you suggest a few retired brick?

we often talk about retired set,

how about retired brick? Compared to 80s or early 90s, can you suggest a few types of bricks that were commonly used but now retired? Are there any substitution now?

I only know that a lot of baseplates are different now.

I am thinking about building up old sets for memories but I don't want to purchase second-handed bricks.

Many parts have been retired but replaced by a similar alternative.

For example these 1x2, 1x3 and 1x4 bricks that changed underneath.

Similarly there are a number of variants of 2x4 bricks and similar with or without supports.

 

There are thin clips and thick clips such as these.

The perfect example of a part that was commonly used, but retired with no substitute.
I know those fingers were breaking a bit too easily but.. there is still no replacement for a low-profile hinge today.

You could also pick any old set on bricklink and chances are there will be many retired parts. Take any old train set for example, there will be motors, couplers, etc that are long retired. For example, these pieces

haven't been seen in new sets since the first moon landing. There have been multiple replacements for coupling.

Can I still find the bricks of Lego 6349 in the market? Are some of bricks in the set already retired?

There's a number of Technic bricks which haven't been used in a good while, for example this one was last used in a set in 2003:

And this pair was last seen in 1997 (connector) and 2002 (bushing): 

Though there's a similar replacements for both, only without the toothing (so they lost some functionality compared to the old ones).
