Need quick part help

Hi all.

I need a quick hand. I am lousy at Technic, and really need a recommendation for what is likely to be a Technic part. Specifically, I need some kind of 360 degree ball joint (or, it could be a 180 degree motion in a 4 x 4 design, so I could utilize a turntable). Crucially, it needs to be a part that affords some stiffness - a ratcheting effect would be excellent, but if it were a naturally stiff enough piece, that would do, too. This is a requirement because it has to not only support its own weight, but the weight of an object at the end of the arm.

I would suggest this hinge assembly from 7470.

It pivots 180 degrees as well as 360, which sounds like it would work for you, and also ratchets.

 

The hinge pieces on BL:

41681 (Far left)

41679 (Second from left)

41680 (Third from left)
