Cyberfounder Posted June 9, 2019 Posted June 9, 2019 Hi hello everyone, I'm currently in the process of rebuilding every set I have ever owned and to my surprise most are still complete en some are even in great shape. Unfortunately some do have missing pieces or scratched and broken brick so I'm planning on replacing them. Some of the sets that need new bricks are for instance 6279 skull 6263 Imperial 6761 Bandit's Secret Hide-out etc... These are sets from a different time obviously and they use some colors that are not so popular anymore like the old light grey and brown. So I was thinking of ordering these parts in light bluish grey and reddish brown and just replace the complete color in these sets. What do you guys think, should I stay with the original color or use some of the more recent colors? Thank you for your thoughts. Quote
Cyberfounder Posted June 10, 2019 Author Posted June 10, 2019 (edited) Thank you for your reply. That was my first thought too, but some of them are rather expenive. Edited June 10, 2019 by Cyberfounder Quote
paul_delahaye Posted June 15, 2019 Posted June 15, 2019 As MAB said, I'd buy the correct parts. But that's a collectors viewpoint. I spent £40 on 2 light grey 80's finger hinges to complete a 7740 train, as I wanted it to be original. I could have used the modern 90's version of the hinge which was less than £2. But I know it's correct. If you don't plan to sell them or have them as true collectors sets, then I guess the cheap option is there for you. Are you a collector or just happy to have the sets. No different than when you buy a second hand set on ebay and it says complete and although it looks like the model deplicted, some parts are megablocks......... Quote
Cyberfounder Posted June 17, 2019 Author Posted June 17, 2019 I collect vintage pirates and castle sets and I do prefer the original colors. I have also noted that some parts don't even exist in the new colors so I think I will stick with the advice to keep them in the original color. Thank you for your input. I don't plan on selling them any time soon, but if I would it would be with the original parts. Can't believe people would sell them with magablocks replacements... Quote
