legoman666 Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 I recreated these for a large western display an acquaintance was building. Not sure if there's a huge market for them. I printed them on my Roland LEC-330 and laser cut them after. Nice thing about laser cutting is that it prevents the edges from fraying. I don't have any of the original tepee bar /w knobs that's used to hold the thing up, so I had to get a little creative. Is anyone aware of other tepee art that I can use? Lego only made these two. They also made the plastic one that came in the Lone Ranger set, but I haven't done that one yet. Quote
Vorkosigan Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 Nicely done, looks very high quality! Western was a great theme but you'd probably get more demand from recreating old pirate sails, just my guess. Quote
MAB Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 They do look good, but where you are making copies of LEGO designs, you should really put your name or something on them to identify them as not lego. Especially if you are going to sell them, otherwise they could get into the secondary market as "genuine" lego parts. Quote
Cyberfounder Posted June 3, 2019 Posted June 3, 2019 Nicely done, I think there is a big market for sails and stuff like this certainly for sets from the 80's and 90's.Most of my sails are in top condition, but only because I was very careful with them. On the aftermarket many have fraying and broken holes. Quote

They are easily discernible as not official Lego and it is not my intent to trick anyone. I do this so people my age can re-canvas their old ships from their childhood without spending hundreds of dollars on tattered official sails on bricklink. My sails are here: https://www.ebay.com/str/OKBrickWorks/Boat-Sails/_i.html?_storecat=3556275419&fbclid=IwAR0nH0mNiNooQnwoEmcZn8ztQ9sJcOpPBZ9qAAU8HYgNiVk493Rr-VbHAKQ Thanks! I really like how the tepees turned out (even though I suspect no one will buy any besides the guy I made them for). Quote
Cyberfounder Posted June 6, 2019 Posted June 6, 2019 I'm going to check these out. Btw, I have most of the original sails from the late 80's and those from the 90's and only the bigger sails have a lego mark. Quote
Cyberfounder Posted June 10, 2019 Posted June 10, 2019 Will you be adding more fabric pieces, like the cover from 6716 weapons wagon, I lost mine ages ago... :( Quote

And also to create tents in general, I know a lot of ww2 modelers might be interested in those. Covered trucks, tents, etc. Quote
