I wanted to build something tall.

The picture leaves somewhat to be desired in quality, perhaps.  I usually take pictures outside but it's been storming which is actually just an excuse because I didn't finish building until after dark.  Anyway, there will be more pictures on my Flickr when it stops raining and blowing hurricanes.

Comments and critiques are welcome!  Thanks for checking it out!

Well, it's tall, I'll tell you that!  The rockwork and stairs are fantastic! I'm not a fan of the lighthouse itself to be honest, but I should mention that I'm not a fan of microscale either. Maybe the walls need a bit more texture, altough the cracks are a good effort. Perhaps I would have liked it better if you would have cut off the rocks somewhere around where the lonely gull is sitting, and then made a minifig scale tower on that base. However, then you would have competed with @kritch in the same scale, plus the rockwork itself would have looked less impressive... Ah well, keep up the good work!

Thanks Exetrius!  I must say it isn't exactly supposed to be considered microscale, but you are not the only person who has mistaken it for such.   I was hoping the minifigures and seagulls would help dispel the illusion but apparently not.  Yeah, I was trying to blend the colors of the set with the shape of the original and it may not have worked for everyone.  Anyway I almost made the stairs and rock another 8 studs higher, but that part of the stairs fell off and I didn't notice until they were already attached.  So we had a narrow escape from an even tinier lighthouse!

I knew you were planning on editing it into this background, but the first time I saw it I still thought it was the original picture!  Excellent job here, Kai, you've definitely nailed the scene, and you can't go wrong with seagulls!    It is a pity that the lighthouse ended up so small and that you couldn't get an interior in, but making it any bigger and still doing the base would have ended up being a ridiculous amount of rock-work!

Thanks Garmadon, glad the edit was so convincing!
