Brick_King Posted May 4, 2019 Posted May 4, 2019 (edited) Finally got round to building the alternate model of the bucket wheel excavator! Was a fun (and lengthy) build. Took me about 12 hours over the course of a week to finish. Works pretty well, the only flaw seems to be that the little pieces of debris get stuck inside sometimes! Brick_King Posted May 5, 2019 Author Posted May 5, 2019 Yea the B model is really nice. The main model is impressive for its sheer size though! Have you built them both? Quote

But it's worth it! One of the most fun technic builds i've ever worked on. Taking it apart for parts is a massive chore though. Quote
Maaboo the Witch Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 One way to minimize the bits jamming is to install tan half-pins in the middle of the 5-hole beams on the belt that takes the small bricks. That creates more momentum for the agitating plate and ensures more bits go that way. The top admin guy on Brickset pioneered this fix. Quote

rekreK Posted September 19, 2019 Posted September 19, 2019 Are there any other MOC's out there similar to this? I want to sort bricks like this, but doesn't need to be mobile. Quote
pleegwat Posted September 20, 2019 Posted September 20, 2019 I've certainly seen various brick sorting machines pass by on youtube over the years. Particularly sorting axles or beams on length is straightforward to do mechanically. Quote
