Tomik Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 (edited) Let me introduce you my latest alternative model built out of set 42081 - wheel skidder. I planned to build skidder for a long time and set 42081 looked like ideal resource of parts for it. I took most inspiration from CAT 525C and log loader built by M_longer. I used M_longer's grapple design and his statement: Quote The first idea for alternate model for this set was forest skidder, but when I have made first sketches, it became obvious that there are not enough parts for making a model that will fit my standards. worked like challenge for me. My skidder features: articulated HoG steering lifting of decking blade dual-function arch working grapple All functions are operated by orange axle joiners. BUILDING INSTRUCTIONS are available at rebrickable.com With few logs... Any comments are welcome. Edited July 18, 2019 by Tomik Video added. Quote
1gor Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 I really like this moc; it could be easily official LEGO set for about 100€ (since it has no bucket...) Quote
Akassin Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 Great alternative model! and playability will be better than most other Lego sets Quote
M_longer Posted April 10, 2019 Posted April 10, 2019 So it is possible. I see where I have made a mistake - I placed the side cylinder much wider than you and then I was sure that it can't work porperly and went for the log loader. Very nice model, how many part were left unused? Quote
fosamax Posted April 11, 2019 Posted April 11, 2019 Nice model. I think I would build it if you decide to make instructions for it. I would like to see how it looks with stickers applied. I will probably also buy M_longer instructions for the log loader. Quote
shadow_elenter Posted April 11, 2019 Posted April 11, 2019 Nice model man! I have not seen this type of machine a lot before. Quote

Very nice model, how many part were left unused? I put actuators as close to each other as possible so this part of model is 11 studs wide - 2 studs more than it should be according to chosen scale. There were between 200 and 300 left over parts when I finished building and at least 1/3 of them were pins. 8 hours ago, fosamax said: Nice model. I plan to make building instructions just it will take me some time. I think stickers shouldn't affect overall look much and you can face most of them inside the model... 5 hours ago, shadow_elenter said: Nice model man! I can remember just two official models (B models of set 42029 and 8439) and C-model from 42054 built by BrickbyBrickTechnic. Quote

I always love your C-models. Quote
fosamax Posted April 11, 2019 Posted April 11, 2019 I have to agree. I recently bought Lego creator 31056 for my nephew just because of http://buildinst.cz/en/catalog/detail/15 Some of those alternate are really impressive. Quote

Tomik Posted July 14, 2019 Author Posted July 14, 2019 I've made video of skidder in action and building instructions will be available in few day too. Quote
Tomik Posted July 18, 2019 Author Posted July 18, 2019 Building instructions for skidder are available at rebrickable.com now. Enjoy building! Quote
