I rather carelessly dropped something that I had been building onto my kitchen floor. In that horrible moment where everything happens in  slow-motion I made sure I watched as all the various parts fanned out and skittered across the floor so that I would know where they all ended up.

After gathering up the pieces and rebuilding what had moments before been utterly devastated I noticed that I was still missing a couple of parts. Given the number of small parts like tiles, clips and bars, I was very surprised to notice that I was actually missing a 1x3 plate and a 1x4 brick. How could two relatively large parts have vanished so completely? I’ve turned my kitchen upside down, moved the furniture and looked under the appliances but they are still nowhere to be found. I’ve come to the conclusion that they must have been taken by the LEGO Fairies and that I will have to replace them.

Have you also been a victim of the LEGO Fairies? What’s the largest part that has inexplicably gone missing?

In the scale modeling world we called it the carpet monster... The parts will reappear, trust me, but when you least expect it. It's amazing how far this stuff flies off when only it hits the ground at the right angle and velocity. If you haven't already, look in crevices on your window bench, flower pots and other stuff that logically may seem out of reach of the debris spray. I'd bet you find at least some parts in those more exotic locations...

Haha!  Yes, I've been visited by those fairies before.

I think it may have been the doing of my cat, but I found a brick inside a shoe (I "found" it when I put the shoe on, of course).

Another interesting one was, I think, a 4x4 plate that somehow had enough momentum to bounce back up off the floor and ended up on the underside of a kitchen chair.  What I mean is, the structure of the bottom of the chair has some 45° braces at the corners of the chair seat box that have a little space above them, so almost like tiny little shelves but invisible at the underside corners of the chair seat.  Somehow the plate bounced up and landed there.  One of my kids saw it a couple days later when searching for something they dropped under the table!

I quess by me it was a really strange fairie. After a long I started to do something with the Lego again (was stored at the attic for a long time, about over 20years a guess.
For some reason I can't find the street plates, and the groundplates for the police- and firestation and the garage. I also can't find the little red pirate boat and pirates, but .... for some weird reason I have 3 little red motors, those 2x2. I've looked at Brinklink and there is no set wich I've bought, and then 3? Talking about motor's ... the motors from the policestation and from another set are also gone. I don't know how or what but I think it's pretty weird.

Brick separators. I have literally 100s of them. I get two out and start using them to dismantle a MOC, but can I find them again. So another two come out ...

I have found more pieces under chairs than I can believe - actually two or three. Were you aware that Lego's are made out of the same plastic as 'super balls', the ones that bounce out of reach every time:laugh:

Mab - another unknown fact that in the genealogy of things, Lego's are distantly related to the family of 'reproduceus hangerites' and when left alone will tend to build large families.

My dilemma is I keep finding pieces sometimes even sub-assemblies here and there that I have no idea where they come from or where they go. Whenever I drop a piece I usually have no problem finding it, thanks to a really bright LED light.
