Hi All,

I am looking for a way to put the gear in the attached picture align with the stud, so I am thinking of 0.5L pin connector. I cannot use a thin bush because I want the whole thing to slide along the axle.

What can I do?

Thanks in advance!

thanks for the quick reply! "Lord of the ring"... :laugh_hard:
yes, i am trying to make things compact, so I kinda do something semi-illegal I guess?

Is the black piece a 3l half beam and 2 smooth toggle connectors (32126) or a single element I don't recognise?

I guess the aim is to shift the gear along the axle using the grey beam. Are there any restrictions which are pushing you to having the 1/2l gaps next to the gear?

There is a gear which slides easily but only 8t I believe.

thanks for the alternatives. I think the upper one (orange) will be strong enough, I will try it out. Thanks!!!

Edit: Just tried and it is definitely not as strong as the black 48496.

Edit: I just want to align the sliding gear to the stud because my other gears meshing with are aligned to the stud as well.

There is a RED 8T gear that freely slides along an axle.

I think the red 8T would not allow me to slide the gear to mesh with other gears (blocked by the lego pieces with hold the sliding 8T in place.

my another attempt:

@woodstock you could try this gear with one of these halfbushes (or type I) on both ends (or even 1 halfbush and that gold ring on the other side, as long as the little teeth are clutching).

Make sure those bushes are cracked as Lipko suggests, so they slide easier (I think half of my stock of old half bushes is cracked...).

On second thought... sliding it back and forth might disconnect the little teeth and as result the entire gear from the axle. Must be verified with real bricks to be sure...
