legomilk Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 New fan designed products from the LEGO Group: LEGO Factory goes to space Products designed by fans is a growing success for the LEGO Group. Following last years release of the LEGO sets in the ‘Hobby Train’ and the ‘Modular Houses’ themes, LEGO Factory now launches the first two sets of the new ‘Space’ theme. The two sets are designed uniquely by enthusiastic LEGO Fans. The LEGO Factory Space exclusive sets are unlike any other LEGO sets. They are designed to combine classic space models with interesting new aesthetics and brilliant building techniques. Together the sets re-live the much loved play theme of the classic space battle between god and evil and they are the perfect launch pad for LEGO lovers to create their own models. The sets are also great as standalone models. The Star Justice set is designed by LEGO fan Chris Giddens from Georgia, USA. It can be described as a as a set of space gear and brave and honourable heroes of Star Justice who are protecting containers with vital energy that the enemy wants. No mission to Mars, Pluto or beyond is safe unless Star Justice stands against the evil forces such as the Space Skulls. The Space Skulls set, designed by LEGO fan Mark Sandlin from Georgia, USA, is the play about the evil and sneaky Space Skulls that have discovered that they can use the energy to get out of the dark, deep underground where they have been living for centuries. The Star Justice troopers need to watch out because Space Skulls attack suddenly and will try many tricks to try to get what they want. “The two new sets in the Space theme are designed to be build and played with by kids from ten years and up and are therefore appealing to both children and adult LEGO fans. We believe that a growing number of children are joining the adult fans and likes to design their own LEGO creations on LEGO Digital Designer. Through the LEGO Factory website it is possible to extend the Space sets with models the fans are building individually. Through our website we also have a lot of content to inspire all, either in their quest for galactic domination or the search for universal justice,” says Helene Venge, director of LEGO Factory. The LEGO Digital Designer can be downloaded for free at www.LEGOFactory.com. Space Justice and Space Skulls are available from LEGO Brand Retail stores and www.legoshop.com. The Rancor Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 Hmmm... I wonder why both the designers were from exactly the same place Quote
KDog Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 Hmmm...I wonder why both the designers were from exactly the same place I think they're in a Lego club together. Ask them; they're around here. Quote
Grand Admiral Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 Actually Chris lives about 50 miles away from me. We are both part of the Dixielug group, and get together and build occasionally. We have been building our themes for about 5 years now. LEGO liked the way our themes complimented each other, so they asked us both to design sets that would be sold together. :skull: Quote
