Hey everyone,

This topic is for discussing the Total War game series.

For those of you who don't know what the TW series is, it's a historical RTS game series spanning from Anchient Rome- the 1800's.

The games in this series include: Shogun: Total War, Medieval: Total War, Rome: Total War, Medieval II: Total War, and the upcoming Empire: Total War, plus their respective expansion packs and Mods.

The series also indirectly includes Spartan: Total Warrior and Viking: Battle for Asgard which are developed by the same people but are 3rd person brawlers.

Now onto the discussion:

I personally like M2TW the best because of the fact that I like the Medieval times more then the other time periods in the other games. But I can't wait for Empire it's going to be sweet, finaly real time sea battles, I've been waiting for that since I stumbled upon the origianal MTW back when it was new!

I also like VBFA and I'm currently playing it for the XBox 360, whats not to like about a game where you're a Viking warrior battling demon Vikings in mythalogical Norway.

So, do any of you guys play any games in the ongoing and ever expanding series?

I played Spartan Total Warrior. It was a decent enough game, but I never bothered getting any of the other ones. The new viking one looks rather good though.

I own Rome and Medieval 2 and all of the expansions, and I absolutely love them. I believe them to be one of the most historically accurate games I've played. Not only are the graphics and scale stunning, but there is so much detail in almost every ascpect. On the battlefield you can outmanouvere and outflank the enemy, or attack their walls in epic siege assaults. On the campaign map, you can construct buildings, train soldiers, enter negotiations with countries, assassinate or spy on enemies, send priests to convert the people and burn heretics, use merchants to trade resources or create a monopoly, recieve orders from the senate/pope and elect the pope from the college of cardinals, launch crusades or jihads, defend against the Huns/Goths/Mongols/Timurids, and much more. To conclude though, they're great games.

I can't really say the same about Spartan: Total Warrior though. I wasn't too impressed with it, and ithey chose a pretty bad time to release it - just after God of War.

I'm really looking forward to Empire: Total War. The naval battles sound so realistic, it's ridiculous. Apparently they had been working on the sea and the wind for about a year and there will be around 100 different ships available. The land battles, trade routes and politics sounds very interesting too, but I'm waiting for more information on that.

So in short:

Total War ON! :sweet:
