So, basically I'm saving up bricks for a giant MOC. And I'm storing them in separate zip-lock bags inside a newly-purchased plastic container. It's air tight with some kind of rubber lid. However, I noticed that the new container smells relatively strong of plastic (a kind of chemical smell).

Do you think this could damage or make the bricks smelly? Is there any other risk with storing Lego bricks this way? Other than the smell there are no issues, it's stored away from sunlight and heat.

I recently unpacked my bricks that had been stored in similar plastic containers (without bags) for about 13 years. There was a slight smell when I opened them, but it went away within a few days and did not affect the contents.

that's good to know, thanks.

I'm also worried about this, my drawers have a weird plastic smell as well. If anyone else has experiences I'd like to hear so!

They say the smell of smoke never gets washed out of your bricks, was wondering if it can be so for other sources of smell.
