anothergol Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 THEY'RE NOT EVEN IN A PLACE WHERE I CAN INTERACT WITH THEM ! I guess that clears it up, brown parts can even snap by just looking at them. Wtf Lego? Quote
Johnny1360 Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 So much for the theory that the breakage problem with brown clips has been addressed. On a positive note though none of mine have broke yet. Quote

62Bricks Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 It's a difficult part to engineer I imagine because the plastic has to flex to allow a bar to be inserted, and the opening has to be slightly smaller than the bar's diameter to keep it held in place. So just having the bar in the clip was putting stress on it. Add to that the problem with the reddish brown color and this is probably the most fragile LEGO part in production. They have redesigned the clips many times over the years and still do not seem to have solved it. Quote
anothergol Posted January 27, 2019 Author Posted January 27, 2019 I believe minifig hands are thighter, though. When I experimented with the slightly-smaller-than-bar 3mm batteries that power LEDs, I found that they were very loose in stud holes, tight enough in clips, but pretty tight in minifig hands, like designed for them. 62Bricks Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 I believe minifig hands are made from nylon, which is a more flexible material. Some of the older clip plates were also made from nylon. Quote
Johnny1360 Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 Hmm maybe they should make some plates and bricks with small holes in the side that you could insert a Minifigure hand into for use as a clip. Quote
anothergol Posted January 30, 2019 Author Posted January 30, 2019 While I don't think that'd be practical, I'm definitely waiting for 1x1 round plate+clip, being able to rotate anything attached would be pretty useful Quote
