Gray_Mouser Posted January 2, 2019 Posted January 2, 2019 Hi, Last year, I made some modifications to Pasq67's midi x-wing. You can find the original and some of my modifications here: https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/158379-moc-x-wing-fighter-midi-scale/ However, I kept on modifying it and I now consider this MOC has evolved enough to have its own thread. Here are some pictures: For those who care: I increased the overall height (1 stud), and had to modify the nose as a result (I think the angles are much more accurate now). However, the extra height means the wings cannot be folded anymore. I completely revamped the canopy. I'm very happy with the lower part, but not so much with the upper part... I tried hard to keep transparent bricks, but there was just not enough room (even if there was a way, I think there would be a gap that would ruin the overall look, just like in my previous efforts). I'm not so sure about the torpedos. I have an alternate solution for them, but I may remove them completely. All the connections are legal(ish). All the bricks are common, and should be available from Pick a Brick and/or Bricks & Pieces. Brick count: 410 (without stand) The cross section is still wrong, but I think there is only so much that can be done at this scale. I'll let it rest for a while, and if I still like it when Bricks & Pieces is available again, I'll order the parts. Constructive criticism is welcome. Lemme know what you think! Quote
Pdaitabird Posted January 2, 2019 Posted January 2, 2019 Nice! I think your solution for the cockpit looks better than just using transparent bricks. Quote
Cylo Posted January 3, 2019 Posted January 3, 2019 This looks great! The studs on the side of the nose does look a bit awkward though Quote
Gray_Mouser Posted January 3, 2019 Author Posted January 3, 2019 Ah yes, I agree. I need an angular plate here to hide the connection. I couldn't find a better way. Quote
Gray_Mouser Posted January 3, 2019 Author Posted January 3, 2019 (edited) Actually, by moving the connection below the red tile it becomes less conspicuous. And I could hide another connection inside the nose so that the tip is now locked into position. Better? Edited January 3, 2019 by Gray_Mouser tip colors Quote
MAB Posted January 3, 2019 Posted January 3, 2019 Yes, definitely better. I also like your cockpit, far nicer than transparent bricks! Quote
