WetWired Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 I've made some instructions using MLCAD for an MOC of mine and I'm trying to find a way to get a better result out of the images it outputs, I see there's lots of POVray applications around, but most links seem to be dead and it looks like they only render the final model, not the steps along the way to building it as MLCAD does. Does anyone know of a program that will render higher quality ray traced images? is there a forum online for this kind of stuff? Quote
pedroagnelo Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 Does anyone know of a program that will render higher quality ray traced images? is there a forum online for this kind of stuff? Not ray traced but decent enough, I use LDview. You can see the result for yourself on my folder Hope it helps! Quote
WetWired Posted April 14, 2008 Author Posted April 14, 2008 That's what i'm after so you can output an image each step seperately in LDview? Quote
pedroagnelo Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 That's what i'm afterso you can output an image each step seperately in LDview? Yes, you just have to set it up right. I'm quite sure you can't read portuguese but you can follow the images on this tutorial. If you have any questions just post them here ! Quote
CP5670 Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 I use LDView too. POVray has better quality, but the rendering can take a long time with many steps. You have to use another program called LPub to give them input in the form of the individual steps. I wish MLCAD's internal renderer was better though. The program is excellent otherwise, but the software renderer and its dithering look like crap. There is another, similar program called Leocad with a much better renderer, but it doesn't run off the Ldraw parts library and the selection of parts is more limited. Quote
