Ayrlego Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 Jameston has become well known for the production of sugar and already there are distilleries producing fine rum. However, hard spirits such as rum are not to everyone's taste and their is demand for good old fashioned ale and beer. Hops is largely unavailable in tropical Jameston, although there has been talk of experimenting with temperate crops such as hops high in the mountains where the climate is cooler. While some hops can be imported, most locals choose to brew ale. Some taverns brew their own ale; while other brewers such as this example operate out of their own premises and sell their product in barrels. ______________________________ Seeing as my last medieval conversion was so successful, I decided to build another! To be licensed as an artisan in Jameston. I have some ideas about growing some temperate crops in the mountains of Cascadia (Myzectlan specifically) next month, so this was a good segue! Quote
Darnok Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 A fine MOC indeed, and fitting the style of Jameston perfectly. Looking forward to the idea of plantations "up in the mountains". Especially for hops, since I would love to have some proper beer production in Mesabi Landing as well! I guess this one would be a factory though, it fits into the defining description of the category: Quote 2) Factory: A factory is a production facility. It is where raw materials are brought to in order to produce a manufactured product. Factories can include, but are not limited to: Hides production, rum and beer distilleries, textile factories, etc. But to be fair: the lines between artisans and factories are pretty blurry... Quote
Professor Thaum Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 Really nice one once again ! great idea the hutches on se house side ! This medieval look fits really well with jameston... you've achieved your settlement style with roughly squared off masonry for the base and wooden storey Just between civilized town and frontier one. Kai NRG Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 For your last build I wasn't sure which color roof I liked better; this one I'm pretty certain I'm in favor of the black. Adds some refreshing contrast, and so does the bright green (not that the other version isn't top-notch as well!). As I said on Flickr, the chicken boxes are simple but super effective, I may want to borrow that design! Quote
Bodi Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 The house looks really good, and the coop for chicken and the cart are very well built too. Quote
Bregir Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 Excellent build, Ayrlego - the tudor style and walls are excellent. I particularly like the gables (?), which is something I am always struggling a bit with, getting the transition from vertical walls to sloped done. While I find the lower stone wall technique impressive, I personally am not a big fan of the "over-detailed" look it results in. I am sure this is a matter of taste, but I wonder what real life counterpart this is meant to represent? Anyways, all around great build with some nice details all over. Quote
Roadmonkeytj Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 Another beautiful building any chance to see it with the roof off? Quote
Elostirion Posted December 25, 2018 Posted December 25, 2018 Just really cool. Beautifully executed all around, just flawless. And again so fitting for colonial Corrington. Great work! Quote
