Ross Fisher Posted November 12, 2018 Posted November 12, 2018 (edited) The Convent of the Sisters of Our Lady of Artemis by Ross Fisher, on Flickr Extract from the continuing adventures of Padré François, as narrated by his companion, Monsieur Gallo The only name she gave was "Weasel". We never found out why, but maybe it was because she could slip away from any problem. She was a born survivor. She had outlasted her parents in the initial terror that hit Fatu Hiva, and she had made it out of the jungle when so many of the rest of our militia fell to the head hunters. I suspect it was her survival instinct that impressed the Padré. When we finally escaped that hell-hole, he ensured that she was well looked after. Took her to the local convent of Artemis and payed well for her to have a good education. Weasel had gone through hell in her life, but things were about to change. -------------- OOC: This is my small Arts and Culture reward from the Fatu Hiva challenge. In my canon, it happens chronologically before the Padre leaves the Ile d'Or. Any inconsistencies like this are Monsieur Gallo's bad bookkeeping. Edited November 13, 2018 by Ross Fisher Quote
Fraunces Posted November 12, 2018 Posted November 12, 2018 Very well done version of a Caribbean monastery. Quote
Roadmonkeytj Posted November 12, 2018 Posted November 12, 2018 Nice little build... Great story add on lol Quote
Keymonus Posted November 12, 2018 Posted November 12, 2018 Very nice build, this is for sure your best architecture up to now! It really gives the feel of a colonial church. The writing is very good too. As soon as possible I'll use my medium license to build the convent, as agreed. I'll try to follow your style as much as possible! Quote
Garmadon Posted November 12, 2018 Posted November 12, 2018 Excellent facade, mate! The figs and story are nicely done as well - makes me happy when side characters are thought of like this instead of just forgotten the instant they're unnecessary - and the use of those long tiles for ground texture looks remarkably good This part was especially good: 7 hours ago, Ross Fisher said: Any consistencies like this are Monsieur Gallo's bad bookkeeping. I'm going to have to get myself a BoBS bookkeeper to blame Quote
Ross Fisher Posted November 12, 2018 Author Posted November 12, 2018 @Fraunces @Roadmonkeytj Thanks for the feedback! I'll try to keep up the good work! @Keymonus Looking forward to seeing what you build. 2 hours ago, Garmadon said: I'm going to have to get myself a BoBS bookkeeper to blame I mean, it was an age of ink and parchment, right? Messages took ages to reach the other side of the world. Mistakes were made. It adds to the flavour of the game. Quote
Ayrlego Posted November 13, 2018 Posted November 13, 2018 A very nicely shaped façade and as usual your minifig selection and composition are superb! Nice work! Quote
Kwatchi Posted November 13, 2018 Posted November 13, 2018 That is a very nice frontage for you convent, but I find my eye drawn to the Padre; that is one great minifig. Quote
Darnok Posted November 13, 2018 Posted November 13, 2018 Beautiful facade, great choice and posing of minifigs, and a good story to go with it - excellently done! A kid in the custody of a religious institution? What could possibly go wrong? Quote
Ross Fisher Posted November 13, 2018 Author Posted November 13, 2018 @Ayrlego @Kwatchi @Drunknok Thanks! I'm pretty proud of it myself. One day I may make the whole building! Watch out for @Keymonus's additions. 9 hours ago, Drunknok said: A kid in the custody of a religious institution? What could possibly go wrong? Hadn't really thought of the connotations there. I'm not planning on anything going wrong, though. They're nuns. Strict, but decent. Quote
Bodi Posted November 13, 2018 Posted November 13, 2018 I like the shape of this facade, it's a neat build with nice details, and the minifigs are well posed too. Quote
Bodi Posted November 13, 2018 Posted November 13, 2018 Just now, Ross Fisher said: @Bodi Thanks! You are welcome! Quote

Mesabi Posted November 13, 2018 Posted November 13, 2018 Excellent little build Ross, and I think this build is great, considering your limited collection. I really liked the figbarf you did earlier on your flickr to show off the characters. Of course, I do not support any religious institution that does not involve overthrowing the Gods in a fiery apocalypse. The Prometheans may be called at some point to remedy things. Quote

But only the ones who strayed, or misbehaved, or were disrespectful ... Or those that didn't eat their meat.... Cause... How can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat? Quote

Do you think you can tell? @Mesabi Thanks! The FigBarf was mainly for Keymonus, who is going to do a complimentary build. I could probably have made the rest of the building, but my partner won't let me demolish Hogwarts for the parts. Spoilsport. Edited November 13, 2018 by Ross Fisher Quote
Roadmonkeytj Posted November 13, 2018 Posted November 13, 2018 Pink Floyd anyone? Lol were they not a worldwide released album? Or am I just too old? Quote
