I just threw them away and got something else made in Japan. At least no offgassing I've had some storage trays with lids that give off that bad smell. These IRIS brand trays that were sold under the LEGO brand are US-made. I have not noticed any bad smell from them. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted November 14, 2018 Posted November 14, 2018 Really really cheap plastic sorter boxes can stink, but then, so can the Pound/Dollar store DVD cases etc. It's the cheap plastic and the low cost production that does it. Residue shouldn't be harmful or it would not be safe to sell the product. Quote

In Japan, Daiso, the storage box is made of PP and made in Japan and does NOT stink at all while it's only 1 USD, 1 USD for two 400ml storage box with cover. For those especially made in Taiwan, I bought one at approx USD 4 which stink for weeks then I threw it away. I really love Japanese products Quote
paul_delahaye Posted November 17, 2018 Posted November 17, 2018 I used to use the stanley organisers with the lift out tubs, this allowed me to not have to tip out the entire organiser. But I personally prefer tipping the big sets into a pile and searching for the bricks, it adds hours to the building experience, and I feel I get better value out of the set this way. I makes me look at the parts much more than I would If I just grabbed them and assembled them. Quote
ks6349 Posted November 21, 2018 Author Posted November 21, 2018 Hi all, sorry, I don't want to start too many new threads. I've just got my first Creator Expert today with 24XX pieces. it's my first big set ever. I haven;t opened it yet because I don't have right tray for sorting. Any comment? How many trays will I need for this big set? 1000 pieces without sorting is very bad enough. I 've learnt from experience. As a result, I must do some sorting this time Quote

However it was bag by bag, which to think of it now, might not be that much different from sorting. Oh well, I'll do that for my subsequent big sets and see what I'll think about that. On the other hand, Would it be a pain building even bigger sets like Ninjago City or Joker Manor that way as they are quite large? Could be a really interesting experience though haha! To your point, yeah, I definitely agree. I never actually see the need for sorting tubs unless it's for mocs. I normally find building sets from a pile to be part of the building experience. Of course, that's just our preference whereas others do have their own. Edited November 22, 2018 by JJ Tong (zfogshooterz) Quote
