I surfed over to http://www.classic-castle.com/ today, to see what was happening there and found a new news article on the main page, that Pick-A-Brick now has Castle mini figs, armor pieces and crossbows. Could this be a brighter future for Lego Castle? It seems to me that Lego is taking quite an interest in expanding the theme. Check it out for yourself! http://us.factory.lego.com/pab/

Could it be possible that we could see Factory Castle sets in the near future? I would really hope so!! I think this theme is very rich in imagination and expansion and I really am looking forward to seeing that!

On another note, I would really like it if Lego would produce a yearly diagram/portfolio of how well they sold, which themes sold well. Ide be interested in seeing how well the Castle theme is doing compared to others. And to see in general which themes people buy the most, before 2007, Ide guess Star Wars, Bionicle and City, but Castle now I think would be in the top 3....Just my thoughts..

Castle Expansion ON!!

I sincerely hope not. I see the Factory Space sets as a hard step down from having a real line, one that is only positive when compared to having nothing at all. I couldn't see them doing that to a line that is already being produced and appears to be doing well.

Simple truth is that PaB is and will always be a way for LEGO to get rid of things that they've overstocked, or think they can make additional profit on by offering it directly. Nothing more, nothing less. That's a good thing for us, it's nice to know that we can pick up Castle parts that way, but it's a far cry from Factory sets, which have historically done fairly poorly.

Factory has seemed like a combination of dumping ground for odds and ends and experimental set production. They may not trust a classic style Space line again, so they try some Factory sets and hope to get enough support. Castle doesn't need that, it just needs to be continued at the current quality level. The rumoured Elves would be a nice twist. Factory sets wouldn't, to me.

Mehh, unless TLC makes nice big sets with lots of artillery pieces and siege engines and tons of minifigs, it wouldn't go well. Castle is something that you can't combine into one set, so I wouldn't see it happening. *sweet*

Here is some Castle related news for the month: Among some new City minifigs and tools, you can now order Skellies and Knights from Pick-A-Brick! *oh* This includes the new skellie bodies with the droid arms, alpha team style skulls ( *skull* ), crownie knight torsos, black and silver body armor, serious looking minfig heads (from the Police Officer), cross bows, and black cups! *sweet* Unfortunately, there are no helmets or swords of any kind. *hmpf_bad*

TLC seems to know that April is Castle Month! *grin*

Army Builders ON! *thumbup*

I think it could be a great thing for Lego and for Lego castle, if it were done the right way. Now im not a Trains fan but from what i could tell, the hobby train set wasnt half bad, even for parts to make your own. Now the Market Place set does stand out somewhat from the Cafe Corner and Green Grocer but it still keeps a similar style.

As for the space sets, Lego hasn't released space sets for about a decade now, as Star Wars took the reign. But if you look at the last Lego space sets, like UFO, Exploriens, and Insectiods these new sets dont stand out so bad from a progression point of view.

I wouldnt want Lego Factory to make useless castle sets of course, but if a modular Castle set would be made with AFOLs in mind I think it couldnt go so wrong. Possibly a town square, or a village to expand the castle world. Just like how Cafe Corner and Market Place gave city figs and sets a place to eat, sleep and hang out, making it more real.

Because so far all we have are catapults and horses and a Castle, but no real place for the minifigs to live and interact with their environment. So if Lego would expand on this just like with their modular buildings I think it would be a benefit.
