Pas_de_nice Posted October 5, 2018 Posted October 5, 2018 (edited) I need a mechanical inverter for a current moc, and I was wondering if someone have tried to use the new blue clutch gear to make a compact one like pictured. My concern is that the old driving ring may not be compatible with the new blue gear, and secondly that the driving gear touches the thin bevel gear and generates friction/damages the parts. Since I do not own any blue gear, I was wondering if someone would try. Edited October 5, 2018 by Pas_de_nice Quote
suffocation Posted October 5, 2018 Posted October 5, 2018 The old driving ring isn't compatible with the blue gears. As for the driving ring touching the half-bevel gear, it does but not to a degree where it produces a ton of friction. Quote
TeamThrifty Posted October 5, 2018 Posted October 5, 2018 I recently needed an inverter.. the biggest issue i had was slop caused by the driving rings. Built a gearbox-type instead, but the number of gears needed introduced nearly as much slop... Anyway back on topic.. you can build something more compact using the old 16 clutch gears. But if its for steering like mine was, don't bother!!! Quote
Pas_de_nice Posted October 5, 2018 Author Posted October 5, 2018 Thanks @suffocation for the information. It is indeed what I was expecting. Too bad, it would have been quite simple! Quote
