You can place multiple pictures in a single .zip and it will unzip them for you, in the current folder. You won't get any compression out of it, but you'll be able to process a lot more files per shot. Quote

It will let you create a variety of formats as well as manipulate others. Plus, if you're compressing something for your own use, 7z is a very efficient format. I haven't been to their site in a long time, but it was freeware before, and I'm sure it still is. Quote
