Philifrom, the inspiration for studless Technic?

During a visit to a museum here in the Netherlands, I was introduced to Philifrom toys:

 

Apparently, it was a spin-off of the Dutch Philips company between 1969 and 1972. The similarities with Lego Technic, and studless bricks especially are striking, while Philiform predates both. Could this have been the inspiration for TLG?
