JimBee Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 (edited) forgive me, but my memory does not serve me well...better go search it (one sec) oh yeah! how could i forget him?! so...gree, bacara, bly, and cody. it could also include some sort of turret or speeder... back on topic, i think lego should throw in a jet trooper. (in the 501st BP) i really think that would be awesome! *sweet* ;-) Edited March 31, 2008 by JimButcher Quote
commandosevy Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 SUPPORT!!!!! S, U, P, P, O, R, T, !, !, ! I'd want a 501st battle pack more than I want the new 2008 sets. and I really want the new 2008 sets!! I hope lego makes it and has new troopers. Quote
Corvus Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 And don't forget a Battle Pack of Mandalorians as well! Hear, hear! I think we've gotten enough Ep. 3 troopers... An Ep. 2 battle pack, or a re-designed Mandalorian BP would be great, but it's still a battle pack, so... Of course I endorse it. X-D WIll Quote
Palin Jax Posted April 1, 2008 Author Posted April 1, 2008 (edited) As an administrator at the Clone Army Builders Guild, I am giving my endorsement and all of those part of the guild also with to endorse this pack. Therefore I am offering 42 full endorsements of such a set.Cheers! Excellent, and I do except them all, and will even include them again if they should so chose to officially endorse this drive as individuals. And to the rest of you, thank you so much for adding your support. I am so glad to see that we are beginning to make a buzz here. Just a very kind reminder, though, and partially my fault. I really want this to be about the 501st bp, and not just ep 3 or ep 2, or any particular clone or senior clone commander for that matter. And here is why. I think the 501st represents the ultimate in fandom opportunities. I would so much like to be in one of the Films, and heck, I would even settle for the TV spot. I simply love to see those guys in parades, or at premieres. I think it says allot about them and their excitement for a thing that they go out and spend allot of dough, get all stormie or cloned out, and just have a ball. Also, to serve under Vader... but... well, thats another story. I know that we could all digress on about a billion different tangents on why or what we would like, but I think that for Lego sake, ney sanity, I will simplify the request. 1 Commander like figure(Standard 501st trooper with generic Pauldron and Kama) 1 Coms guy (501st Trooper with simple neck piece akin to what the sand trooper had in the Mos Eisley Cantina's sand trooper set with a new, shortened whip antenna), and 2 standard 501st troopers with blasters A simple security check point, basically the clone bp's gun with a raise lower arm and some stanchions to keep back the dissidents. Maybe someone with mad customizing skillz could whip us up a sample. I'm sad to admit my own custom skill leave much to be desired! 501st on! ***Official endorsements: 61*** Edited April 1, 2008 by Palin Jax Quote
trooperdavinfelth Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 (edited) Consider this post a full endorsement, single as it is. :-P Also, I have to agree with madoka in a way; it would be more than a nuisance. I know some people who buy hundreds of BPs. Sure, if I bought five(usually how many I get) I'd unload one or two commanders on EBay, keep two for scrap and customizing, and keep one for keepsies. But with hundreds, it's... It's... Just not the proper thing. :-P Edited April 1, 2008 by trooperdavinfelth Quote
ZoL Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 Hello all! Well, as the self describing title implies, I would like to make a formal request of Lego to make this all important Battle pack. Why, do you ask, am I doing it here, in this format, and on these boards? The answer is simple. I am firmly convinced that Eurobrick is now the leading front runner for where our voices can be heard by Lego. When we speak, I think Lego listens. They have done an outstanding job delivering what they can when we have asked for it, within reason. ***Official endorsements: 60*** I wouldn't say we are the leading Bourd in thet sence, I think the sets that come out are a mixture of all the forums that Lego is looking into, but I would definatly support this new BP. Tarfful Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 (edited) Great topic Palin. I'm with you all the way. ;-) But is it just me or... is this whole scheme as it were (or proposal if you wish) :-P just wishful thinking? Not that I'm complaining about wishful thinking... *thinks about wishing for wishful thinking ideas* umm err, were was I, oh yeah... it's just that unless TLG decides to do a BF theme, which I also wouldn't mind, we have about as much a chance of seeing a 501st BP as we do a 212th (Cody's) or a 21st Nova Corps (Bacaras) or a 327th Star Corps (Bly's) or even a 41st Elite Corps (Gree's). On another note it never hurts to wish, or rather dream of such a thing... As an administrator at the Clone Army Builders Guild, I am giving my endorsment and all of those part of the guild also with to endorse this pack. Therefore I am offering 42 full endorsements of such a set.Cheers! You dare pledge everyones endorsement of a 501st BP from a Clone Army site. :-P He he, even if you are the Admin. :-D BTW that would include me, so I guess my vote that I just voted doesn't count, confused yet? *wacko* -Tarfful Edited April 1, 2008 by Tarfful Quote
Piranha Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 Maybe someone with mad customizing skillz could whip us up a sample. I'm sad to admit my own custom skill leave much to be desired! 501st on! Ebay seller ki$walker in the past sold this fig for around $15-20 Kinda pricey but it is a sweet fig, with pauldrons and custom blaster So if you bought 4 of those it would cost $60!! X-O However Kaminoian sells the decals to make basic 501st troops for $3.50 so if you bought 4 decals it would be $14! Plus the cost of the figs and then there is paudrons and blasters...... The cost would rise very quickly Hence the need for an official TLC 501st battlepack :'-) The issue is that it would be a specialized BP Basic ones that we have seen are Clone,Droid, Rebel and Empire All 4 have been covered so the next step is specilized BPs For example: Snowtrooper and Hoth Rebel soldiers are not basic since they only appear on Hoth in the fifth film That would be considered a specilaized BP If we were to get a BP similar to that then there would be no reason why TLC wouldn't give us a 501st BP If the 10th SW set is the Jedi Temple during the assault and it includes 501st then it's less likely we would see a 501st BP because TLC would use that "exclusive" factor to boost sales :-) Quote

A marvelous summary. And though I have not considered the Jedi Temple dilemma, it does add weight to my request. If Lego where to produce such a set, It would be staggering in cost. I doubt that the useful pieces of the set would make it worth while to break down for sale, so sellers would just pass along the 501st'ers, albeit with their, (the sellers) markup. Don't get me wrong, I would love the set, but, as I look at my own small collection, I long to do a scene reminiscent of the Emperor's arrival, except with Vader. Who knows, if this idea does work, maybe the other great Corps could get their own bp's. But it will take allot of noise!!! So, are all of you up to the challenge? Quote

I Scream Clone Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 You have my vote too for what its worth! Perhaps a more likely option would be Clone BP2 with 1 of each, say 501st, kashykk, marine, original ep2......as he dreams *sweet* Quote
commandosevy Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 I endorse this almost two times! I'd vote on a real official TLC poll if I could find one. Quote

I mean, the rebel soldiers only appear for five minutes in the entire saga, right at the beginiing of episode 4 and that's it. We never see them again (except maybe at the end, during the parade)... I think we see less of them than of the hoth troopers... But we've been crying for them for years, and they finally gave in. So if we shout long enough, who knows ;-) But I'd still love a 501st BP... Actually, I'd like one where they put different specialised trooper, that'd be nice Quote
Vaders_son Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 SUPPORT!! Of course I want a 501st BP - that would be awesome *wub* Only point I see - as some already mentioned - the commander shouldn't be in it. They should include the commanders in bigger sets maybe and the regular troopers could come with the BPs. 501st ON !! Benny Quote
Palin Jax Posted April 11, 2008 Author Posted April 11, 2008 (edited) Can I get a YUB, YUB... Support in da house!!! Vader_son: Thank you for your assurances, and although I would like to see your Commander in upcoming set Idea... Thinking REX... I still would like the extra pieces in the Bp so you could make the Commander... No special markings please... But that way you could also have a little more choice/ adaptability within the bp. yellost: I wouldn't count it nitpicking... but hey... then that would be nitpicking... but great points besides... simonjedi: Ahy... glad to be a pointer? Thanks for your support! ***Official Endorsements: 69*** (the author does not endorse any perverted ideas you older guy's might derive from said number of endorsements *sadnew* *wink* *devil* unless you are talking a camaro... *laugh* but hey... it's all in good fun, right?) Lt. Veers Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 While I do think this is a good idea, it's likely not to happen. The 501st only appeared breifly in Episode Three and in Battlefront 2. Aside from that, I can't think of any other appearences. Also, how many of the people/kids are gonna recognize the 501st? I would guess only about 15%. I don't know, I think this would be some what of a gamble for Lego. But who knows, they could surprise us yet. Quote

I don't know, I think this would be some what of a gamble for Lego. But who knows, they could surprise us yet. That really depends on how you define "appears". If you play Battlefront 2, then you realise that a large number of on screen Stormtroopers (yes, Stormtroopers, after the clones troopers became stormtroopers they retained the unit designation and continued to serve Vader directly) would have been of the 501st. In a few of the books they make an appeance. 2 from Zahn that I can think of. In the Legacy comics, the 501st is on Bastion when Roan Fel reassumes control of the planet. The vast majority of their appearances are as Stormtroopers, but the unit itself is present quite a bit (even if some of it is retconing). They are supposed to be the best of the best. That is one reason a lot of people want that unit specifically to get a pack. The fact that there are no official 501st Lego figures yet is probably also a factor. Personally, if I had to choose one unit to make into battle packs (or something similar) they would be it. The more realistic approach might be to have a pack with clones of 4 different groups. It isn't the method I would prefer, but it would work and should sell. Quote
Trudop561 Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 I agree. I would have some 501st soldiers because they are blue and because they are the best legion of the clone army. Quote
Vaders_son Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 Yes that's right they are the best of the best. And I'm sure they'd sell very good. Every Star Wars Fan knows about the 501st - just think of the 501st fan organisation! Besides, I think the blue looks cool on the clones and no kid will go like *uh, mom I don't want those troopers they're blue *oh3* * Nobody complained on yellow pilots or green/red troopers - why should blue make any difference? It's a big pro for the people that know about the 501st and it's definitly no con for the rest. 501st ON!! Benny Quote
