Hi All, i’ve been lucky enough to have been given LEGO since I was a nipper (the vast majority of which I still have) and I still buy the stuff today! I’m also quite sentimental and struggle to part with things I’ve had for a long time (had this since I was 7) but sometimes needs must and I need to generate some funds for some bills that will be coming my way...

A bit of background; I actually received 2 of these Castles in 1978 or 79 and my parents let me open one and put the other ‘away’. And ‘away’ it has been for the best part of 40 years - factory sealed and completely unopened with the plastic cover still very firmly attached at every point.

If I did part with this do you know roughly what it would be worth in today’s marketplace and where would be a good place to sell? If it is not likely to be worth much then I’ll find something else to part with, but I don’t display this piece so it seemed like the logical place to start.

Thank you very much for your time.

I think a good place to start would be to see what it is going for at Brinklink, that should give you a good idea of what you could expect to get for it. Best of luck I know how hard it can be to part with such things.

Thank you very much; Brinklink and eBay have been handy barometers for open complete sets but can’t see a factory sealed one. Perhaps there’s not a huge difference between the 2 in which case I’ll probably keep this if the circumstances allow. Mind you, have a few other things to sell and I don’t want to part with those much either! Thank you once again.

As this is one of THE classic Lego sets I think it would be ‘worth it’ - though there’s no recent data on 375 (itself an indication of rarity), there is a sealed copy of the later 1981 release (6075) currently up for £3,500 which might help you (if you compare the value of copies of the two versions, noting this is ‘the original’). As with all these things, you can price it at any figure you want, actually selling it  is something completely different!

There is also the option of seeing if there are any auction houses that specialise in toy sale. They would have the ability and contacts to gauge a good listing price.

Envy that though, I think I would be selling the TV and other electronics before I parted with that!

Catawiki is an option for a place to sell too. I've seen rocket high prices for some old used sets, but in great condition. New ones should be even higher.
