Lt. Col. Thok Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 Title says all. I am conducting this poll in a think-tank sort of way, so be serious and honest. Quote
Siegfried Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 By actual creation goodness I don't understand why you would do otherwise.... (I closed your extra topics; how did you manage a triple post?! ) Quote
Shadows Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 Actual creation goodness is where it's at. It's one thing to be nice to someone because you like them, but quite another to vote for them over someone else who did a better job at creating. Similarly, I would hope that people wouldn't vote against someone because they may not like some part of their personality. In other words, reward creativity, without regard for who created it. *y* Quote
Matn Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 The creation by itself, and how good the creation looks good with the contest it is in. Quote
LuxorV Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 By actual creation goodness; but I have to admit that the name/recognition iha a big appeal, at times. LuxorV Quote
WhiteFang Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 I will look at the creations first! This must be the X-Factor to attract me to cast a vote on the creation *sweet* Quote
mutley777 Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 It has to be by creation goodness or the contest is not really a MOC contest, but more of a popularity one. I must say that i am swayed by themes i like though as i guess alot of people here are. :-D Quote
kill will Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 Er, picture quality is a main factor for me, as I have OCD and blurry pics really BUG me! Other than that both..... :-/ Quote
Minifig Lecturer Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 As block personality voting no doubt occurs and usually sees 2or 3 mocs that aren't as good as others leading, I usually wait until most votes have been cast and then go for the best moc IMO that happens to be in with a realistic chance of winning. Quote
ExoBuilder Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 By the actual creation. You shouldn't vote for someone if you just like their name :-D Quote
Scouty Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 Nobody >:-) !! No, it's actually by actual creation goodness. Why on earth would you vot based on popularity...etc.? :-) Quote
SirNadroj Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 Hmmm.. this is tough. :-P Actual creation goodness makes sense, right? ;-) Quote
simonwillems Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Well, let's see: I open the topic to which the poll is attached, move my mouse-arrow to one of the white dots in front of the desired choice, click on it just enough to make the white dot go all black, then I move my mouse to where it says 'vote' and click that button... Oh wait, it's not the actual process but the intention... X-D 8-| I'll definetely go for the creation I like best, sometimes with consideration for the age of the builder and the process or building phase he (or she of course, though few women enter contests: go girls!) is in at that moment. So a bit of both worlds really, always letting the creation prevail however. Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 I'm not gonna vote in this one...it doesn't say whatever i like... I always say what i voted and why, and it would be good if everybody did IMO. Quote
Batbrick Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 (edited) Not meaning to offend, but I find this a bit flawed. Most everyone will choose the best moc, and those that don't won't admit it. Perhaps if you added more choices, like: Your favourite moc (not the same as best moc) One that contains elements you relate to (ie: I might be more attracted to a Batman moc) design (ie: tircks and tips you like, or maybe the sheer simplicity of something) You get the point though. I will add my vote to the "Best Moc" category, though i admit i have been severely tempted to do otherwise sometimes, I think I mostly manage to choose the best, or my favourite, one. Lt. Col. Thok Posted March 29, 2008 Author Posted March 29, 2008 (I closed your extra topics; how did you manage a triple post?! ) Slow computer...I pressed enter three times. *wacko* Not meaning to offend, but I find this a bit flawed. Stalking Captain green hair! *skull* Indeed, perhaps, this poll is flawed. Perhaps what I meant was...oh, bother, I need to think about this! "Do you vote based on member recognition" is what I meant. If it was a contest of joe_n00b1234 vs. perhaps a more prominently featured member, such as Hinckley, Sinner or Vader, would you vote for someone you knew better? What I found when I did a similar poll at my school was that some people tend to play "favourites" when voting on something; i.e., if their worst enemy and their best friend were in a building contest, the would vote for the friend without considering the goodness of the creation. ~A thouroghly befuddled Thok *wacko* Quote
zero1312 Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 I agree to Batbrick here, sometimes I choose my favourite, not the best but the creation overall, not the one who did it. ;-) Quote
Cardinal Brick Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 I vote based on bribes of bricks ;-) Ok I vote for what I thinks looks best, I don't really know anyone well enogh yet to vote on name or anything else. Quote
CopMike Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 By actual creation goodness *y*! But in that "goodness" word there can be lots of things that determines the outcome. The overall design Colors used and matched Size Use of speciall parts Backstore / match according to story Picture quality regarding focus, light, distance to object Picture background etc Votes On copmike Quote
