Roadmonkeytj Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 So I figured I would give a teaser of the current work in progress. The wheels on the pf motor will be BBB medium wheels (hence the 1plate gap under them) the rods in their shown state will not function properly so Im still working that out. Ive included the train that gave me the idea. Ive had to make a few compromises in lego but I still feel ok with it. Until I get the valve gear running I dont want to share the file. Once this is in Brick I will update the thread. C&C welcome ... Quote
zephyr1934 Posted August 24, 2018 Posted August 24, 2018 It is always interesting to see unusual prototypes, the MOC does a good job capturing the original. Quote
ColletArrow Posted August 24, 2018 Posted August 24, 2018 Certainly different! I can see the proportions are off a bit but there's no easy way to fix that, and I do like your work with the bell and cab detailing. Are you going to build some suitable rolling stock for it to haul? Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted August 24, 2018 Posted August 24, 2018 This is a lovely steam engine! I like your choiche to use BBB medium wheels to arrange pistons rods and to give to your project the right dimension! Quote

Thanks ... I know its not the "norm" steam engine but ive yet to see it in any of my sightings of lego trains so I had to build it ... Cant wait to get it in brick On 8/24/2018 at 5:56 AM, ColletArrow said: Certainly different! Are you going to build some suitable rolling stock for it to haul? The wheels had to be shifted rearward to use the pf boogie motor. There was no good way to hide a m motor on this and I have to have working rods (personal requirement of any steamie). I also left out the water fill infront of the bell because I couldn't come up with a solution I liked. I plan on some sort of freight or maybe a combination car. I need to hide the IR and the Battery somewhere. These engines were loggers or shunters so no big fancy pullmans lol but a "company store" delivery could work On 8/24/2018 at 5:07 PM, LEGO Train 12 Volts said: This is a lovely steam engine! I had actually talked with him (BBB) about small wheels with a pin hole ... But he said they never really worked out - paraphrased One of my other personal requirements for a steamie (see above quote) is that they be self driven. I don't care for "push model engines" ... Not that there's not some great ones out there ... Just like it to pull its own weight. Once I get the valve gear and rods worked out im hoping to get some custom rods from zephyr to finish it out. Well I bought the custom rods for my modified EN ... And decided this was the only to go lol. I'm hoping to have some decent photos of the EN in oct (currently have no layout but my lug will in oct) Quote
