mgb Posted August 9, 2018 Posted August 9, 2018 I'm trying to reconstruct my old 12v 7725 train set. I have lost some buffers beam and magnets. Does someone know if recent buffers beam (for instance this one, available on the lego shop) can be used as replacement ? Quote
Carefree_Dude Posted August 9, 2018 Posted August 9, 2018 They have an almost identical form factor, so the new bufffers should work fine Quote
deraven Posted August 9, 2018 Posted August 9, 2018 The magnet is really the only difference. I would just go with whatever is cheaper/more easily available to you as there should be no functional difference. Quote
jarryd229 Posted August 10, 2018 Posted August 10, 2018 i like the old ones better because you have more magnet movement better for inclines Quote
Carefree_Dude Posted August 10, 2018 Posted August 10, 2018 Also the old ones seem to be slightly stronger Quote

ALCO Posted August 11, 2018 Posted August 11, 2018 I have also been thinking about rebuilding by old 4.5v set 77xx as I cannot remember the exact set number... But my plan is to use the newer parts because they are cheaper and I want to use my old magnets for my future BMR rolling stock. Quote
freestorm Posted August 14, 2018 Posted August 14, 2018 I think you cannot use 29085c01 (new part that come with train 60197 )image of part 29085c01 on Bricklink If you look the red mark, you will see that 91968C01 is "open" on top of image , the wheel can go inside like with old 12V train buffer If you need, I can test with 29085C01 and old 12V train wheel Quote
