I think it would work if it was a good cg. But this is confirmed. There is an article on Bungie.com (official website) mentioning the movie, and that there is not much news as it's still being worked out by lawyers. So it'c coming.

No, it's the rights to the movie, not the game. Like Sony sold the spiderman liscense to LEGO, but they can still make the movies. It just means that nobody else can make Halo movies.

Peter Jackson to Direct Halo Movie

Just found this online, "Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh, the creative duo behind the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy and the upcoming "King Kong," will serve as executive producers of a movie based on Microsoft's blockbuster "Halo" video game."

I've played Halo a few times and its great fun. I really loved LoTR and I can't wait for King Kong, so this film should be great if PJ is directing it.

Actually, he isn't directing he is producing it. I usually get confused aboiut this as well but really that means he is in charge of picking the people who will be involved in the film and also getting the script to usable state. they will be incharge of running the movie and its operations but he is not directing it. Meaning it will not look like a Peter Jackson movie but it will have a PJ script, the artists he wants, the actors he thinks work best and the rest of the stuff needed to make it all work the way he wants within his budget.

The director will call the filming shots and determine the creative spin they will give it. They will also pick the scenes that they like best and in gerenal give the movie the overall look and feel it will end with.

But beside such a rant I agree this can only mean good for what may have been another game-to-movie bomb. This will mean the movie could actually be good.
