Darth_Ewok Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 I was playing halo with my Dad and he told me that microsoft and bungie sold the rights for a movie! :oo Halo Movie May Happen After All Posted by timothy on Sunday June 12, @01:50PM from the you-must-care-about-this dept. spizkapa writes "On the back of the story about the Halo competition, Microsoft are reported to have reached a deal with Universal Pictures and Twentieth Century Fox to make a movie based on Halo and Halo-2. Apparently, Microsoft initially wanted $10 million plus 15% of the box office revenue but the deal was struck when the two studios teamed up and offered $5 million and 10% of initial box office revenue. Apparently, the formal announcement will take a further week after creative issues are agreed between the three parties involved." http://msnbc.msn.com/id/8172311/ SWEEEEEET! :oD Quote
vcvc Posted June 18, 2005 Posted June 18, 2005 *devil* a Halo movie. THATS INSANE! i went to movie tome and i saw NOTHING! >:( Quote
Mr. Lego-builder Posted June 18, 2005 Posted June 18, 2005 Here's another link. Since the movie isn't very near to being out yet, it doesn't appear on the movie databases. Quote
Sarg_Kulo Posted June 18, 2005 Posted June 18, 2005 Great news. I love Halo and a movie should be excellent. If it is like the book it will not get repetative. It will have Keyes capture, the attack on the marines base and the whole truth and reconcilliation thing at the end. This should own. Quote
Mr. Lego-builder Posted June 18, 2005 Posted June 18, 2005 Some sources now say that the movie (script written by Alex Garland) should be out in the summer of 2006, almost immediately after the release of Halo 3. Quote

Capt_Jim Posted June 21, 2005 Posted June 21, 2005 If it's anything like the Halo games, it'll suck tremendously. Quote
Mr. Lego-builder Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 If it's anything like the Halo games, it'll suck tremendously. I have a thought about the quality, but it will just arouse more controversy, so no comments from me just yet. Quote
eDeevo Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 Summer of 2006? Well, unless they have some gifted writers, this movie may not tur nout that good. It seems like they are rushing it to make sure it would be out to coincide with the release of the next game, which means it may suck (think of many other movie-game titles ;) )... Also the fact that Halo 3 is being done by a different software company is not a good sign... but I suppose we shall see... Life is Good. Quote
Sarg_Kulo Posted June 22, 2005 Posted June 22, 2005 If it has scenes from the book it will be better and have more variety then the games ;) Quote

Sarg_Kulo Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 I want an update on my favourite video game's movie... NOW Quote
Mr. Lego-builder Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 Ok, calm down. So, here is the update that you wanted: According to sources, the movie is based on Halo and Halo 2. The date has been changed, however, because of Microsoft's worry of unlisenced usage of the game, script, plot, characters, etc. of Halo. Therefore, Fox and Universal Studios were teaming up to buy the lisence for up to $10 million dollars. The bidding of this has ended, and the current deal was set at $5 million dollars (instead of the predicted $10 million). Because of all this trouble with Microsoft and financial arguments, the movie will be planned to release in the first half of 2007. Quote
Sarg_Kulo Posted July 17, 2005 Posted July 17, 2005 So teh movie is based on both video games??? Dunno what to think, I think that I am happy *satis* Quote
Lord Thrawn Posted July 18, 2005 Posted July 18, 2005 Will this mean a Halo 3 movie in the years after that? Quote
Capt_Jim Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 Halo 3 is basically going to be the Master Chief destroying that last Covenant ship that he's on at the end of Halo 2 so the movie should be about twenty minutes. Quote
Sarg_Kulo Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 I think they will flesh it out a bit. Like what the books did with Halo one ;) Quote
Capt_Jim Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 So long as there's no gratuitous makeout scene between Master Chief and Cortana (Who doesn't look that good to begin with) I'll be ok. Quote
