I know, i ride sportsbikes, climb mountains, run two businesses, build my own engines (real ones)... in the gaps, i log in here. Believe me, its the only forum i ever contribute to, and i have zero social media. The exciting stuff is not a mystery to me!!

Also true, but not what I meant. I meant that there are more people working on 42082 alternatives which are not visible on the internet per se.

That would be great if they are, can't wait to see them. I think its a great basis for moc's, and makes a change from supercars!!

Looking good, but is there a different color string you plan on using? It detracks from the paneling. Also the book is a little sloppy.

Good luck!

I just acquired some black string. And the boom will be refined, that's what I'm doing next in fact.

The crane is 90% done! I have restrung the winches in black, built better hooks, and reverted to a gear rack mechanism for extension. I have also added some detail to the chassis, finished my design for outrigger second stages and finished the cab. The superstructure is 99% done (I only have to finish the crane head now).

And the crane fully extended for your pleasure. Height is 1 meter.

That's all. If you have any constructive criticism now is the time!!

Hey everyone,

Technically the crane is done, however as I filmed the video today, the steering completely failed on me. The crane refuses to steer right. Therefore, the video will be delayed. Sorry about that!

As well, I took measurements of the crane today, and the dimensions are 65 (superstructure length, chassis length is 45) x 20x20cm! That means I have made a more functional crane in a smaller scale! Final pieces count is also under 3000! Therefore, provided the steering is fixed, this project was a success!

Thanks for all the comments and criticism. I really appreciate all your help in this project!

That is correct.

Perhaps you should put one thin 1 X 2  liftarm to keep together thin two liftarms 1 X 5 on front outer side of stabilizer

@BrickbyBrickTechnic If your aim was simp;y to build alternative 42082, do not read the next.

Imo, the boom looks too skinny, and the boom tip (the very end of the boom) is too uncompact, if I were you I'd rebuild it.

Secondly, unfortunately boom is bending even without load, adding so favourite by me Y-arrangement will definitely improve load capacity. Do not stop at this point of building.

btw you created this model very fast, congratulations!

My aim was to make an alternative to 42082, but I still read your text

I have to disagree with the boom looking too skinny. It seems to be in scale based on pictures of other cranes. If anything, it's less skinny than that on 42082, by a lot.

Yes, the boom is bending. I have somewhat alleviated by reinforcing the shell around the end of the boom. As for the Y-arrangement, I also tried building a separate jib. The problem is, I don't have enough beams to build a jib half the length of the boom, in red, black, DBG, or LBG. Therefore, I am seriously lacking the parts necessary for a y-arrangement.

Thank you, I appreciate your comment.

Understand. I have the same problem with the parts lack sometimes. About the boom - some clarification - maybe some cross bars will strengthen the second (middle) boom section? If it will be possible to ...hmm... fold up it?
And maybe I missed but do you own any lego LEDs? If so - add them to your crane :)
