[SR-FB1] - July '618 - Hand of Fate

The frigate Hand of Fate was commissioned by Bishop Meloche from the shipyards of the old world long before his untimely demise.  The two decked warship was to have served as his flag ship, but found itself without ownership and was sold to a private concern.  Its whereabouts are presently unknown.

This is a project that I am finishing simply to get it off my workspace.    It was begun almost a full year ago and built up in stops & starts.  When the Shipwright Guild Hall deemed it too short to fit the class 8 template in November 2017, it was torn apart and restarted once two new prefab mid sections showed up in the mail.   Since then the bow & head rails have been rebuilt four times and the stern twice.   Today I found myself with two hours of free time.  I pulled it out of the closet and simply decided to finish it as best I could to end the odyssey.  I declare it as done as it will ever be.

I'm not completely happy with it aesthetically but as a "game piece" it will suffice.  I certainly will never try my hand at a ship this large ever again; my collection doesn't allow me to work at this magnitude successfully.  I was originally planning to do some rigging work but I just don't have the impetus anymore.

While she won't be willing any beauty contests and the lack of a tumblehome makes her a little blocky looking, I actually kind of like her! She's like a beefier Imperial Flagship.

Oddly enough she does have a tumbledown but I can't make my camera show it off and can't be bothered to take all the lamps in my house to light it properly ("never working with a black hull again" is another new rule for me)   Frankly, just another reason this project needs to be put to bed.

I totally understand the desire to simply finish something like this - it was the same for me with my frigate. I rather like her lines, and her colour scheme is great - the black hull; while difficult to photograph, does really add to the scheme. A powerful looking ship. Great work!

I've been there with the "just finish it" mindset. And even with that, it still looks great. Perhaps not a masterpiece, but it's a good-looking ship, properly impressive for its class. The large ship classes are very difficult in real bricks, and you pulled it off. Well done!

And I hope I don't run into her on the Brick Seas!

Nice to see this completed...  It did turn out quite well. 

Will you be displaying or dismantling?

It's a good looking ship, I like the blue gunports, they works quite well with the white hull. The sterm looks good too. 

Just one thing, she's a two-decker.

Dismantling.  I need to free those bricks to work on a project with my kids.  I have ten weeks of summer vacation to fill up.

Seriously though, good work. Building a ship of this size is no easy task, and she looks proper all around.

Is there an interior?

As for taking her apart: you could do a variety of shots with crew and/or some of your character(s) now, for possible later uses. It would be a shame to finish such am amazing model and not use it in some way.

I can understand your frustrations haha :p Well, I like her. She isn't a CGH beauty (but what ship is? :p) but she is nice and powerfull in her own way.
