[OL - FB] Fatu Hiva Gunboat

The terrifying news of Oleander soldiers murdered by mysterious aggressors has spread among settlers, the locals thought it was time to act. Here we have a handful of brave gents, who have outfitted a old fishing boat as a gunboat.

Lovely brick-built hull, and a good representation of a small gunboat. Good figure posing. I like the minimalist water for the scene.

I like the snot/angled/brickbuild sides. but what kind of piece did you use for the gun sight?

@Bodi Very well executed fish... Er um ... Gunboat ... Thats it will this be stationed at the settlement then? Would like to know if my trade ships are well protected lol

Glad you like it! The trans-clear plates turn out to be quite handy to create water effect.

Thanks Bart! The hull's shape was achieved with prefab shrouds, they are more rigid than flex tubes and harder to bend too. The gun was just a stud-shooter.

Hmmm, we should not pour cold water on their enthusiasm, just get them occupied.

Yes, it's a stud shooter.

It will likely to be stationed at Fatu Hiva, and they are very eager to put their firing skill into practice.

Thank you LM! As I said above, the shrouds may not be the ideal material for shipbuilding, though it may be a substitute to the flex tubes.

Nice gunboat, Bodi! The hull shape turned out wonderfully, although I am not sure I would dare bending the shrouds so much! :O

I think the green gunwale (isn't that what it's called?) is a nice touch.

The gun appears to be mounted very high, though, and I don't think that will do any good for stability while firing! ;) Also, with all the black, the shape of the hull is very hard to make out, so you could probably try to work a bit more with light. I have noticed that your pictures rarely do your great MOCs justice, and often, it is hard to make out the details.

All in all good job! Great to see all those gunboats spring up in the brick seas! Corlander innovations spread fast, eh? ;)

Thanks Bregir! i have a dozen of shrouds that I don't know what to do with, so I had to find a way to use them, and you'll see me bending them even further in the future, oh, the next time I'll use white part to build the hull.

The gun mounting was some sort of compromise, the hull is actually quite narrow, it would take too more place if I position the gun carriage any lower.

And claiming gunboat as a Corlander innovation is pure propaganda!
