AFOL SF Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 Not sure if this was already discussed in the past... my apologies if ever. Does anyone know the number of sets The Lego Company produced for each set? (Ex. 25,000 per each set) - - What about sets that are "exclusives" or "limited edition"?\ Does the number of sets produced varies depending on the size/number of pieces in the set? AFOL SF Quote
phoinix Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 well in the annual lego report it says that the new fire station sold more than half a million copies.. so some sets come in large numbers!! Quote
AFOL SF Posted March 22, 2008 Author Posted March 22, 2008 well in the annual lego report it says that the new fire station sold more than half a million copies..so some sets come in large numbers!! Wow! As in 500,000 sets!?... and counting!? Is it "safe" to assume a "minimum" of 100,000 copies per set then? I'm impressed! Quote
Faramir Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 Probably, but that was a pretty big selling set. For sets like Dwarves' Mine and Hoth Base I'm pretty sure that they send out only 3-4 shipments per store >:-(. At least it feels that way sometimes. Battlepacks they also produce a lot of, but by the end of the year we go to stores and see 20 Droid BPs and no Clone ones :'-( . Quote
Mr. Builder Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 Yes, I bought the Dwarve's Mine, (don't kill me) and I went back a week later and they didn't even have traces of it. Quote
Zarkan Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 Battlepacks they also produce a lot of, but by the end of the year we go to stores and see 20 Droid BPs and no Clone ones Yeah, but that's not even the worst part. After these hoarders buy all the clone packs in a store, they take the minifigs out and sell them for 5 dollars a piece. Then, they also list whats left of the battle pack (minus the weapons) for like five dollars. And people STILL buy this stuff! *wacko* :-P Quote
Faramir Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 (edited) Yes, I bought the Dwarve's Mine, (don't kill me) Well, I certainly would like to... ;-) I'm surprised you found it. Judging by what you said, it was probably a left over one they put out, not a new one. I got an old Jungle Adventurers set like that once, about three years afetr it was released :-P . AFOL SF Posted March 26, 2008 Author Posted March 26, 2008 I'm surprised you found it. Judging by what you said, it was probably a left over one they put out, not a new one. I got an old Jungle Adventurers set like that once, about three years afetr it was released :-P . Some people (especially hardcore collectors) wants to hide stuff sometimes. Hiding places could be anywhere in the store... even under the metal shelves (don't ask me how they're able to lift those things)! That's why discontinued sets in 1's and 2's suddenly appear from time to time after years of nonexistence. Other times, a pallet or box will be 'accidentally' buried in the warehouse until it gets 'rediscovered.' If you get lucky, prices of these sets will have fallen to 50-75% off retail. I've seen it happen on several occasions. Yes, I bought the Dwarve's Mine, (don't kill me) and I went back a week later and they didn't even have traces of it. I was first introduced to the Dwarve's Mine sometime in October (or November) of last year. The store I frequent has at least 30 to 40 sets and took weeks before stock starts moving. Then all of a sudden it was gone, this was around early January (I think). The funny thing was, it didn't even went on sale! I guess word spread around quickly and everyone started grabbing a set (or two). Yeah, but that's not even the worst part. After these hoarders buy all the clone packs in a store, they take the minifigs out and sell them for 5 dollars a piece. Then, they also list whats left of the battle pack (minus the weapons) for like five dollars. And people STILL buy this stuff! *wacko* :-P Isn't it amazing!? I guess some people are simply 'richer' than others... Or... plain crazy. Battlepacks they also produce a lot of, but by the end of the year we go to stores and see 20 Droid BPs and no Clone ones :'-( . After a brief absence in my local store, I'm seeing more Clone BPs again, but not as much as the Droid BPs. Case in point, grab more of the Clone BPs if you need one before its finally gone. DarkYamiDragon Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 Well, I think that LEGO should really produce more of some sets. Take 7094 (King's Castle Siege) from the new Castle line. I searched for it in local stores for three months. Finally found it at a store where they had 10 of them. I got mine, and I came back the next day (looking for another set). The other nine were gone, and I haven't seen a single one in this town since. By the way, I didn't order it from S@H because they were out of stock. Quote
