Large Plantation: Footprint 9216 studs in Port Raleigh

With all the commotion about setting up sugar cane plantations and the such, a swarm of hungry workers are flooding into Port Raleigh with little food in the markets to sustain them.

Arises and economic opportunity...

A plantation dedicated to farming potatoes. To feed the hungry masses with fresh tatties.

A fancy manor house sits at the end of a road flanked by many lines of potato crops and some being planted.

The small estate has a hedged garden with a marble fountain, and at the other side is storage for the tatties.

My first time building in LDD, hope it's not too shabby. Comments most welcome!

For your first time in LDD, this is quite good! My only suggestion would be to build up the terrain a little bit. Right now the dirt looks like its on top of the grass which isn't quite natural. Looks fantastic though! Keep up the great work!

Thanks! You're right, the landscape is pretty flat and boring. I'll work on this the next time

Nice work, especially on the manor house - the first floor cladding looks good - I had wondered about that technique before but haven't really seen it on a large scale. As LM71 mentions the ground could use some details, although the raised dirt in the fields works for me especially around the plough, as it would be churned up naturally. Nice contribution to Port Raleigh's development focus this month!

The mansion is fantastic. I'd like to see a larger rendering of it.

The plantation around is also really well-MOCed. But the mansion is just beautiful. :-)

Thanks! Just doing my part for Corrington - dig for victory!

Thank you Elostirion, I'll try rendering it at a higher resolution for you

Now that is a proper "southern states style" plantation, great job!

The house is very impressive. I like the two gardens, as well as the different stages of growing taters. Well done!

You seem to be inspired by the US South way back when.

Looks good!

I do love the South of USA and a lot of my reference images were Southern Manor-houses. Thank you for your comments, I'm glad you like it.

Loving that mansion - the name up top is really a clever addition as well!   The plantation and fountain are neat too, and it looks like everything has been planned very well by the farmer/architects! :classic:

This is a nice build. The irregularities in the rows of crops are convincing and help make it look more lifelike.

As others have said, the manor house looks very similar to an old American southern plantation house, and it looks very nice. I suggest working on the pediment to better integrate it into the rest of the roof instead of having the roof slope down behind it.

I am doing bagpipers for Pontelli and you are fond of the South of the USA.  Strange world

Thanks, I realise you're right, I was only looking at the front of the manor houses and never realised.
