MagPiesRUs Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 Having recently seen the movie "Sin City", I was very impressed, especially by the visual aspect. Thus, I have created a few vignettes of the scenes from the movie (and comics). Both of these ones are from the story "That Yellow Megablok". My photoshop skills are rather lacking, but I'm quite pleased with how these turned out. Here they are.. Hartigan in prison: Compared to the actual scene: MOC in colour: Hartigan stabs 'the yellow megablok': Another shot (I was lazy while photoshopping this one): One more shot (in full colour): Enjoy! Feedback much appreciated *sweet* Quote
Cardinal Brick Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 Both of them are very well done. The first one in my opinion in the better, you've managed to capture the mood and lighting effect very well. Also your photoshopping isn't at all bad. Quote
iamded Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 Very cool! I haven't seen the movie, but it looks very accurate to the reference pic. *y* ~Peace Quote
Asuka Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 A pretty cool work, TinyPiesRUs, and especially that B&W prison picture rocks! *y* Quote
MagPiesRUs Posted March 20, 2008 Author Posted March 20, 2008 Thanks for the feedback everyone :-) If anyone is interested, here is the scene in which my second vig is based on. (Not Recommended for Younger Members) Quote
Mr Spielbrick Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 (edited) Ghehehe, really cool vigs. I'm a huge Robert Rodriguez fan, and I entertained the idea of doing a Sin City vig myself for a while. I thought it'd be too complex. Looking at it now, I realize... it IS complex! Which makes your vigs all the more impressive. Nice work, man. Now I feel like I should hurry up and do a Mariachi vig before someone beats me to it! Edited March 20, 2008 by Mr Spielbrick Quote
Joebot Posted March 21, 2008 Posted March 21, 2008 Very nicely done, and a cool idea for some vignettes. I really enjoyed the movie, and got a kick out of the couple of Sin City books that I've read. Frank Miller is one twisted dude. Are you taking requests for your next vignette? How about a Jessica Alba / Nancy one! Quote
mutley777 Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 The first one is nearly perfect!! *wub* The vig captures the mood of the seen so well. If you changed the floor tiles for 1X2 grills it would be complete! The second one has the most creative use of a flag i have ever seen!!! *y* Great stuff. Quote
lego.ryan Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 Very cool, and very accurately done. I love the use of the yellow flag, too. That is one of the best movies in terms of visuals that I've ever seen, even though I was probably a little too young to see it when I did. My dad was a little grumpy that I convinced him into taking me to see it. >:-) Quote

It was hard finding the right faces and torsos for the figs, one of the main reasons I didn't do any Marv or Dwight vigs. Joebot said: Very nicely done, and a cool idea for some vignettes. Once i get the parts though, you bet I 'll do one :-$ At the moment I'm working on a Marv vig, should be good *sweet* mutley777 said: The first one is nearly perfect!! *wub* The vig captures the mood of the seen so well. Thanks :-) I didn't think of using grill pieces, good idea, though I don't think I have many brown ones. Quote
