Batbrick Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 (edited) Finally guys, finally here is my next military/vehicle/EN moc. I loved my little APC and decided to give it a bigger sister. It is loosely based off the Batman: TAS SWAT car, which is also a rather high placed vehicle. Without further ado, I give you the APC: As you can see, as with my other EN mocs, it shares the clean SNOT look and black/white colour scheme. I am actually really happy with it, I love its high up shape and battering ram look, certainly a tough machine. However, I understand that like my previous APC there are certain aspects some might not like that I do, and that is fine! More shots: Entrance door down: It can hold eight minifigs comfortably, twice that of its little brother, and a ninth passenger if comfort is not an option: She's a biggin'! More pics Here. Hope you enjoyed, comments appreciated! To the Batbrick Cave! >:-) Edited March 18, 2008 by Batbrick Quote
LegoLyons Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 Thats wicked. I love it how so many figures fit in it, from the outside it looks like you'd struggle to get one in it. Nice work. Quote
Dragonator Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 Another great MOC Batbrick! I like this too, it has a very militaristic look, squarish and solid, so it can stand up to heavy fire. I did not believe you could fit 9 minifigs in their until you showed the picture; it is a lot roomier than it first looks! X-D Some nice little details on there as well that just add to the effect, like those side guns and the well built back door. Overall a very well put-together MOC, great job! *y* Have you got any plans for what will follow this one? *sweet* Quote
Ricecracker Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 hey batbrick! like i promised, here are my comments: i'm not going to repeat all the good comments people have (even though they are true), but rather focus on some constructive criticism, if you dont mind ;-) * i dont like the way the 1x1 white wedge looks as a mirror because it looks awkward on its own; away from the other white stripe. i think you should change it to black and see what it look like! * i think you should also change the white guns on the bottom to something like light bley or a different of white colour for the same reason as the mirror. * this might not work with the guns at the bottom, but i think that you should change the wheels to treads or make a little cover for them (like on your mini APC) * i agree with luxorV on the door, it is very well done, but i see room for improvement. i think it would be useful to have the door go down to the ground so that you can actually walk in there ;-) but please remember, these are just my opinions and others might not agree (including yourself) also i do truly love this and you are a way better lego artist than me! zero1312 Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 Damnit Batbrick, you make it harder everyime for me to do an approciate comment on your works. X-D And that's a beauty. *wub* Quote
ExoBuilder Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 And you say I overdo my SNOT! :-| :-D This is a great creation Batbrick, though, not my favorite work from you. In my opinion, if it had different wheels, this would look beautiful. I still love this though, it's so chunky *wub* I'm very impressed it can hold up to 9 figs, that's very impressive *y* You really should stick to these kind of creations, you're really good at that. *sweet* Quote
WarnIcarus Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 I think that it is too tall. It would be too easily knocked over from the side. Widen the base and give it bigger wheels. I like your color scheme but it needs to flow continuously from one side of the MOC to the other. Right now it looks choppy. I would never have guessed it would hold so many figures, that's a good touch. Quote
Asuka Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 That´s pretty cool, smooth and sleek and elegant, and I especially like how good it looks from the front. *y* It´s also always a miracle to me how many MFs can fit into such a small vehicle, very ingenious indeed.... *sweet* Quote
iamded Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 How did I miss this? X-D This is great, I love the details on the side, and the whole SNOT look of this, and it fits 8 people! That's awesome, a vast improvement on your old one! *y* *y* I love how the driver peeks out the windshield, neat touch! *y* ~Peace Quote
Batbrick Posted March 20, 2008 Author Posted March 20, 2008 Thanks guys, and iamded, it fits 9 people! X-D I actually like how tall it is, and trust me, you couldn't knock it over if you saw it in real life, the wheels sit out much further than the pics make it look. I agree the colour scheme should flow more, but i sadly didn't have the pieces. To the Batbrick Cave! >:-) Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 Very nice, but too boxy in my opinion. Quote
Brickmaster Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 Very nice, but too boxy in my opinion. One of my thoughts aswell, not only this, but it's missing headlights, it's much too tall, no mudguards on the large wheels could go a long way. It has some potential though. Good effort. Quote
Batbrick Posted March 22, 2008 Author Posted March 22, 2008 One of my thoughts aswell, not only this, but it's missing headlights, it's much too tall, no mudguards on the large wheels could go a long way. It has some potential though. Good effort. I didn't even think about the headlights, good point. As for the tallness, at the risk of repeating myself for the umpteenth time, its based off the SWAT mobile off of BTAS, which, get this, was also very tall. As for mud guards, I guess that would be good, but I don't see a huge point. And lastly, as for boxiness, I won't even give that a second thought as a criticism, my military mocs are never smooth or shiny or curvy, they are just military mocs, I'll make something rounded when I see a point, and I don't even think its THAT boxy, its an APC after all ;-) As for the good efforet comment, I think it is a bit more than a mere effort, not as good as other mocs maybe, but hardly a failure. To the Batbrick Cave! >:-) Quote
PaulC Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 I think all of your armoured cars (even the big ugly soon-to-be-decommissioned one) are your best military mocs. The Police SWAT and Army troops need something to safely transport a lot of them as quickly as possible into the thick of the action. I like this latest one as it's simple, functional, and does exactly what it's designed to do. I'm really impressed by it's large capacity. My armoured car can only carry two troops! I honestly don't know why people are going on about the height. Because the wheels stick out at the bottom, it's wide wheelbase makes it very stable. Not a lot could turn this over. I'd be more worried about the ramp. It's okay when the troops are disembarking, but it looks like they'll have trouble getting back in quickly which could leave them exposed. Excellent MOC Batbrick!
