I don't post a lot and sorry if this is in the wrong place. After the roller coaster was unveiled I decided I want to purchase the existing fairgrounds sets along with the Disney Castle. I do not have any interest in the mixer as it's secondary price and I don't have room for it.

My question is which order should I buy the sets in. Seems like the modulars retire in the fall of the 4th year and I have pet shop (bought secondary), palace and Parisian already. Town hall was the one that retired randomly so I am wondering if assembly will go the same route due to the higher price. Here is what I'm thinking:

1. Ferris Wheel

2. Disney Castle.

3. Assembly Square

4. Detective Office

5. Brick Bank

6. Carousel

7. Roller Coaster

8. Downtown Diner

I have a wishlist on Lego.com, and I tend to buy the oldest set on it in any given price group.

I have a few small things on there ($10-30), a few medium things ($40-80) and a few bigger ones ($180-300+)

Depending on the promotion (double VIP points, gift with purchase, etc), I look at my list and see what will fit.  For GWP, the least expensive set that will get me the gift - for double VIP points, whatever money I've saved up and then which set has been out the longest/about to retire.  Limited edition stuff gets bought sooner, of course.

Your list seems fine.  I don't think there's a "right" way to do it, and given what's on your list, I think the brick bank (maybe the ferris wheel) is the most likely to get retired first.

I bought the Parisian Cafe when it was on sale; I think the modular buildings go on sale before they retire (at least, that one and the Palace Cinema did).
