Maaboo the Witch Posted April 13, 2018 Posted April 13, 2018 Got a problem with 42070 which I bought a few weeks ago. Just recently the vehicle started making a snapping noise every so often when driving it around. I cannot for the life of me figure it out. Everything else seems to work fine. I'm aware that others such as @Twedo have had this issue; can anyone help me out? Cheers for any info! Quote
sirslayer Posted April 13, 2018 Posted April 13, 2018 does the snapping sound occurs going in reverse?? Quote

sirslayer Posted April 13, 2018 Posted April 13, 2018 motor to drive line needs to be reinforce, going reverse or forward can cause gears to slip or grind, just reinforcing the axles or drive line that has the least mounts would be a start Quote
sirslayer Posted April 13, 2018 Posted April 13, 2018 (edited) I've did a dual gear design where the output from motor have 2 x 24t gears on the output axles and 2 x 12t gears on input to differentials so I could do forward and reverse instants travel with minimal clicking or grinding. the axles tend to bend inwards or bend outwards from heavy loads or torque. the dual gear design makes sure gears dont skip a beat. the small 12t gear single bevel to diff is usually the cause Edited April 13, 2018 by sirslayer Quote
Maaboo the Witch Posted April 13, 2018 Author Posted April 13, 2018 That's really good! TLG should have done something similar in 42070. Quote
