Small Artisan: Footprint 512 studs in Jameston.

Captain Joshua heard a rumour he may be up for promotion and headed straight to the finest men's clothing merchant in town.

Inside, one angry aristocrat was arguing with the manager over their defintion of 'haberdasher', that it was meant to describe a merchant of small items used for sewing and string, not just a general term for men's clothing.

"Blame these locals, I say. One good thing is, it's an interesting enough word for you to come through the door!" The manager stated

"Hmmph, you'll hear from my connections soon enough!" retorted the customer.

Just then, Captain Joshua entered the shop.

"How can we serve you today, sir?"

"I am soon to be in Her Majesty's Navy, and I am in need of suitable uniforms" stated Joshua.

"Very well, what rank are you starting at?"

Captain Joshua's mind went blank, Rear-admiral Fletcher had not actually said what his rank was to be.

After an awkward silence, the manager pointed to one uniform.

"This is what officers your age seem to be buying up, I'll take your measurements and see if this one will do. Once promoted, we can add epaulets, gold buttons and such"

"Very well" Captain Joshua replied.

"A fine fit, you look far more suited to that colour than that red, I must say"

"Here is the bill, sir"

"Oh dear, leave Lord Spud with the bill, I'm sure he'd be delighted to pick it up for me" said Joshua.

Very nice build and story. I really like when people add some lore/story  to their creations. The furniture looks great as do the mannequins.

Very nice clothing shop Spud.
I like the fact that you took that bluecoat 'off the mannequin' and showed a plane white torso after that.

Do I see a uniform jacket besides that one with (modern) first mate stripes on the sleeve. Never knew lego had those!

I wondered if anyone would notice the blank mannequin :pir-grin:

The arms are from this minifig  :pir-wink:

*added to mental wish list*

Nautical fact spillage: In the modern merchant navy 3 stripes (the top one with the executive curl) is for a First Mate, a Captain has 4 stripes (top with curl) *not taking into account national differences on the design, stars, anchors, crossing stripes and others, the number of stripes has the same meaning.

I love little interior scenes like this, especially when efforts are made for accuracy.  What stood out to me (I missed the white mannequin... Sherlock Holmes I am not it seems) were the curtains and the floor border; both are nice touches.

Very nice scene - story and MOC go hand-in-hand, which I love.

Really like the design of the clothing dolls, the empty one is a great detail. Most outstanding part to me are the windows with the curtains, those look fantastic. Great work, looking forward to see your story progress further.

Thank you, I am a fan of historical accuracy.

Loved the build ... Plus the photos without displays ... The dummy was a nice touch and the story is fitting

Thank you.

Great build, nice story.

For some reason it says "small plantation" at the very top though...

Thanks.

Small plantation? Must have been the old copy-paste trick from my last build :look:

Really nice build Spud! The layout is perfect, not overally crowded with stuff. Good job!

Thanks, I hope I got the 'fancy shop' feeling with having less stuff inside.

Very nice build Spud! The building is very realistic and well done. All of your detailing is fantastic. My only criticism is you used this for your activation build, it would make a fine artisan build by itself!

What do you mean activation build, is there a step I'm missing out? :look:
