As a kid, I mowed many lawns and shoveled many driveways to earn my collection:

My boss says he wants to buy it from me, and I'm considering it. What do you all think it's worth? Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this. I just wanted opinions from people who'd be knowledgeable about this.

Welcome to EB, DubiousDrewski!

The first question that only you can answer is, if you're proud of it and have fond memories, will you regret selling it?  Be careful and go with your gut.

Based on the current going rate for 3 or 4 of the sets I can easily identify from the instruction booklets and assuming they're complete and in good condition, you have around $300-350ish (USD) worth of Technic there.  The 8880 Super Car is the most valuable item, easily bringing in the $100-125 range (a good bit more if you have the box).

Obviously those prices can swing either way depending on how you're selling them (complete sets vs just (mostly somewhat common) parts), but you can certainly get more than the $100 someone offered you in that imgur comment.

hummm,, i can say this that Lego's admitted of producing to many bricks last year and the look of your collections are just the $ 50 dollars or less models that you can find on ebay. i dont know if you do have all the correct bricks or even all of them but you do have an extra differential and seems to be more pieces if i was just going by the instructions books that are laid out..   no specials sets but i did have the submarine  or just a few parts left from it..  Ebay usually deals are 5 dollars for every one hundred various technic pieces .. To part with them...  My bricks are gonna be buried with me when I die..

If the hubs from 8888 are pure white, rather than yellowed from sun light, they and the air tank are probably the bits of value there.

Ultimately, it all depends on the memories you have with them and whether you plant to use it in the future. Also, whether you need the money/space now.

@DubiousDrewski first of all welcome to Eurobricks. If you are proud on your collection then you should keep it, that's simple. Question is if someone is making pressure on you to sell it? Perhaps your boss has someone who is ready to pay really good for them to resell them or?

Agreed, unless you need the money, you should keep it, as you'll almost certainly regret it at some point...

You guys are very helpful, thank you. I do need the money. I do want to still keep it and maybe pass it down to a lucky kid (Maybe my own) I do still want to build with it myself.

Maybe I won't. Thank you all.

If you do need extra money for now then ensure you get a good price for it. Then work to improve things and you can always buy new lego, but the decision is yours.

I lost /sold older Lego Technic sets. In terms of money, they aren't worth as much as you think, second hand prices for used Technic sets has dropped, boxed and sealed sets obviously command high prices.

However I have now been hunting down my older sets and replacing them, as they have a lot more value to me owned and in my collection then potential money. I regret selling /parting out or losing my older sets.
