While sorting through my storage unit containing 30+ years of LEGO I came across these two sets made in 1966. I didn't know I had them and they are made of hard plastic and about 75 mm high. Also they are made in Great Britain not Denmark. Each set contains 6 parts but I also found enough trees to make another set of 6 plus spares. Enjoy looking at this piece of history.

Nice find! I remember my Gran had (and probably still has) those streetlamps, except stored loose in a box with the rest of the parts... most are probably broken or falling apart now, which is a shame. I know the lamps had a 2x2 base and could be fitted onto LEGO studs, but can the trees be attached as well? I've never had any of those in front of me.

Hi, yes the trees can be attached to LEGO studs like the current trees.

Are these going to go on Trademe as part of your big sell-down too @AllanSmith

Hi, I don't know. Do you think there is a demand for these. Also have a lot of sets in the 0600 range from 1970 in various conditions. I didn't get much $ for the Ambulance of that year, so am wondering if I should sell those too.

It's tricky - there aren't too many collectors in NZ who are prepared to pay top dollar, and several I know aren't necessarily actively looking at Trademe and the likes. I've found the most successful way to sell this sort of thing is by placing them directly in front of other AFOL collectors who aren't actively in the market; as once they see quality items, they can rarely say no.

But yeah, if you $1 reserve them, odds are I'll buy them well under par value.
