Lt. Col. Thok Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Okay, so, last night I saw "No Country for Old Men" (which was really just plain odd), and they showed the trailer for Ironman. It looked awesome! When I got home, I researched the alternate trailers, and came to the conclusion that Lego would be genius if they liscenced this product. Does anyone agree with me? Quote
natelite Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 hmm, lack of army building. lack of unique vehicles or buildings. sorry, i gotta disagree with you. :-/ as a comparison - the spiderman theme tanked. not sure why ironman would be any different. Quote
kill will Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 I have to agree with natelite on this one, Though the movie looks awesome1 *y* Quote
Dadster Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 I'm an Iron Fan myself and even I'd have to say that Lego Iron Man is a longshot. Bats has all the publicity, set ideas (Batcave, etc), and vehicles. It would go the way of Spidey - cool figs, but no lasting power IMO. Now an Lego IM game? That would be awesome and prob sell!! Quote
natelite Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 well, i think batman will tank too. they gotta scale down on the vehicles. still way too large right now. any vehicles in dino attack scale is doom to failure. I just want to quote TLC's own statement - "Now a street sweeper actually looks like the machine sweeping the streets." well, they gotta do just that. design vehicles that look like vehicles rather than "houses with wheels." as an eg, kbtoys, which overcharges about $5-10 on all lego sets put the battank up at $40 retail price. $10 below MSRP. :-D that has gotta tell you something about the batman sales! i gotta say that TLC got indy's scale just right. the vehicles aren't in gigantic sizes. set with buildings are in the right size and still pack ingenius contraptions for kids to explore. in fact, that little mini jeep that is supposed to be a BM set, i think it will be a classic. in about 6 mths we should see the set being sold between $20 to $30, if not more. Ronan Nissen Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 I agree with the others although it would be cool!! Quote
CopMike Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 I just love this one made by the very talanted arvo *wub* *wub*: Here Quote

Palin Jax Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 Well, I will go out on a limb and lend my support for this line in regards to the coolness factor. After watching the preview... and not mentioning the Ozzy/Sabbath tie ins... I think that Ironman will rock the box offices... Other than that hack Indy flick :-D :-D :-D (and seriously, just kidding), I am expecting this years summer season to tank until August 15. Now I wouldn't go so far to predict that Ironman will become a legacy flick, but Downing Jr. looks like he might really rule in this film. I do see great potential with this film, but since Lego hasn't even leaked any preview product stuff, I will concede that this line is defiantly DOA for now. But I have my fingers crossed... If only just for Iron man himself! Quote
M'Kyuun Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 I'm also an Iron Man fan, but unless LEGO was willing to produce alot of military style vehicles and weapons, it would not go anywhere. Plus, IM is not as popular as Spiderman or Batman. I thought the Spidey sets were good for what they were, but Batman has more potential for sets due to buildings and vehicles, as well as more well known villians due to the various tv shows over the last decade. Batman is still fresh. Spidey, too, but the lack of vehicles really limits what can be done. The Harry Potter theme seems to be in the same rut: the number of sets seems to get smaller with each movie. The Order of the Phoenix got one set, a third incarnation of the Hogwarts Castle. I'm glad ole' Shellhead is getting the big screen treatment, and an IM fig would be cool, but aside from Tony's lab and maybe a collection of various IM armor figs, the Mandarin's mansion set, and maybe a FinFangFoom done in the manner of the Midgard Serpent, there's not much that could be done without going into military style vehicles. Actually, I guess I'm not that big a fan after all...I can only remember these two enemies, and Tony Stark has been around since the 50's; I even have a box of comics stashed away somewhere. Quote

True, there would be only a few good sets. But, if we were to get a multi-set ambush, as seen in the trailer.... X-O Quote
Vader Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 True, there would be only a few good sets. As much as i would love to see an iron man line it isnt likely to happen, you yourself have pointed out the main reason why. Quote

It would appear that our resident Dark Lord has sumarized this entire topic. True, it would be nice, but it is not liable to happen. Quote

IM has been going strong since the 60's and if you have the comics from then thru the mid-70's, you need to get them out and maybe sell them. ;-) With the movie coming, you might make a pretty penny! But yeah, to reiterate, IM has Crimson Dynamo, Titanium Man, Justin Hammer (big corp fiend), M.O.D.O.K. + A.I.M. scientists, Blacklash, Blizzard, Beetle, etc, etc. as enemies. Just hero VS villain fights. A Tech-Lab might fit into a set, but other than that, not much in the way of playsets. Quote
