Permo Posted February 28, 2018 Posted February 28, 2018 ...better start running ...ok, there goes your car What ? No, it's not a lifeboat... My first MOC. 6ch of RC 4 L motors on rear wheels Servo steering RC controlled working lasergun on rooftop, motorized aiming Pneumatic grabber liftarm with rotating yellow knockers and knives, grabs and lifts Pneumatic controlled wingdoors on the cabin Working lights, front, rear, top, beams and blinkers actually blink but never on a photo. 4.7 kilo of Lego (3 batteryboxes) Fake V10 engine running from the air compressor in the front, mounted in such way that it shakes and rattles the hood, it's not connected to drive function. LED strings are DIY, blinkers blink by a magnetic readswitch, little magnet rotates with the aircompressor. 2 dollarstore flashlights serve as headlights. A friend of mine just send me these pics tonight, this MOC has allready been taken down... Enjoy :-) Quote
Imanol BB Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 Oh my, this thing looks amazing, its like a mad max vehicle, but without rust and more beautiful, and i must say that it actually looks kind of futuristic, its shapes, lines, accessories and lights make it look awesome, is sad it has been dismantled, i would have loved to see its insides and how it works with more details, but it is already cool, i think you made an excellent and creative work on it. BTW... 4 minutes ago, Permo said: No, it's not a lifeboat... This killed me Quote
Jeroen Ottens Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 And now for something completely different... Seriously: this thing has character! I love it You have some real out of the box thinking quality in your builds Quote
Jaromir Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 Omg dude... You can take my girlfriend, just send me building instruction... Quote
MajklSpajkl Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 This looks really cool! It has some mean attitude! Well done! Did you make some video before dismantling? Quote
Didumos69 Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 This could have been the whacky wheels contest winner! Very original! Quote
Jaromir Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 Is it made from Porsche and airport rescue vehicle sets? Quote
grum64 Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 Holy Moly! I see it, but I’m not sure I believe it Quote
technic_addict Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 This thing looks awesome! Unique, interesting and eye appealing. Well done and thanks for sharing! Quote

Sorry no video, I wish I had one, especially the rattling hood, made it sound like a real powerfull thing.... but last night I ordered a small HD cam from China, small enough to fit in the driver position also... so in the near future there will be vids of my builds. 4 hours ago, Jaromir said: Is it made from Porsche and airport rescue vehicle sets? Porsche, 2 x Crawler and some small bits from brickstores,... LOVE the brickstores, another box just came in today. Thanks for all the compliments, you people inspired me to dive into Lego after seeing your builds on the net, you're an awesome bunch ! Quote

Leonardo da Bricki Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 This should have been in the Whacky Wheels contest! Very unusual, and original truck. I like it a lot. Permo Posted March 1, 2018 Author Posted March 1, 2018 (edited) I found some pics of the technical inards of this build on my phone; General overview Drivetrain, pneumatics and driveshaft for the rotating knives and yellow knockers (I have my own terminology for parts based on imagining them on a human scale) on the back of the vehicle. Ty wraps are sometimes mandatory to keep things from going "Thing goes Skrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrra" Compressor pump in the front, now the shaky engine works like this; I'm lazy and fairly new to Lego and I have trouble with this half stud weird things that sometimes go on, how do you mount this bloody thing ? So my fake V10 is only mounted on the front side of it, the backside has a 20T gear on it and it simply rests on the big black gear... make shure it does not sit at 12 o clock position but slightly off 11 / 10 .... there you have it "wankelmotor" I named the concept... make shure to have the drive motor running in the direction that pushes the gear (engine) upwards, the effect is awesome if you mount the hood only to the engine. The pneumatic wing doors are super easy, just a panel mounted with one pin on the top pushed by a small cilinder.... The lasergun. Simply a very small laser unit taken from a laserpointer pen and soldered to a lego powerconnector. I drilled one pin connector to fit the laser inside, it's that small. It's a 5mW red laser that was running on 4,5V really small batteries of wich one was empty... and the performance was a lot better on the Lego 9V batterybox, actually after 1 minute or so it trips the thermal fuse of the batterybox and only runs half power... wich is weird, it's only 5mW.. I have to figure this out as it seems the laser power rating is only determined by it's powersource it seems to make it legal... my guess the unit is actually way more powerfull as I could put a red dot on the churchtower in town from my roofteras, haha. So it's officially illegal now. You also get a good view of the LED strings I did, it's a 3mm warm white high lumed LED, I put a small plastic LED holder on it, in reverse, that fits nice and snug into a Lego pinhole... advantage, you can route the string trough pinholes, then push the LED holder on and position it. Also the warm white looks much nicer compared to the cool white Lego. The Lego LED's have the advantage that they consume very very little power... mine consume at least 10x as much. I have set this rule that mods are ok as long as second hand parts are used, bought specifically for the mod... I don't mod things from my build collection. Cheers ! Edited March 1, 2018 by Permo Does everything need to have a reason, really ? Quote
aminnich Posted March 1, 2018 Posted March 1, 2018 this is quite the build. This is a completely different kind of model in my opinion. We are all used to the clean-cut (lack of a better term) models, but this one is very busy. I really like, different is never a bad thing! I look forward to seeing your next build! Quote
sirslayer Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 odd, i just seen this video and it reminded me of your build.. Quote
sirslayer Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 @Permo it wont be released till Aug 1 in the america.. But why do I feel that Lego is using our ideas from this site.. Quote
Permo Posted June 21, 2018 Author Posted June 21, 2018 It definitely has that distopian feel to it.... haha ! I think they got their inspiration from Mad Max in this case, I love it ! That olive green is absolutely beautifull and it goes very well with the orange, love the design of this thing and I see some beautifull parts in there, I just might get this set and use the parts for detailing my builds. Thanks for sharing ! At the moment I'm working on something that has that eerie "Boston Dynamics" vibe to it... Quote
