Hello...

After 30 years I picked up Lego again Dec 31 last year, playing with Lego at a friends place last Christmas got me hooked again so I went to some auctionsites and got me a 2nd hand crawler set and the Porsche (new) ... than I ran into another crawler real cheap as it had no box no manual and was missing some small bits, so I got that for the extra motors and IR system.

The batterybox is not the greatest powersource and at some point I put 2 boxes parallel to increase current wich helped but also adds lots of weigt, and not owning a "smart" phone rules out the buwizz for me... So I went Leipo,... A Graupner 70c 11.1V 2000mAh pack is powering this beast. Where I discovered that one V2 IR receiver cannot handle the current drawn by four L motors, solution, use two  V2 IR receivers on the same channel and split the load... bingo !

I used some silicone lubricant to prevent wear on the gears, it really helps.

It's fast, driving in home results in the equivalent of trowing the car against the wall, it accelarates with spinning wheels for 1 to 1,5 meter looking for grip wich makes this the perfect drifter, no Ice needed, no special hard tires needed, it will drift on any flat surface by sheer power.

No suspension as I did not see use for it as it would only add weight, complexity and compromise stiffness.

It is controlled from a single IR remote, so full trottle and hard cornering only haha !

It actually needs a video but I don't have a camera...

Cheers !

Hello...

Hi, welcome to EB!

Nice to hear you picked up Lego after so much time!
On another note, please take a look at the Guidelines. Size of the pictures need to be max 1024. Please link smaller pictures.

Have fun!

Hi,

Ok, is there a way to reseize pictures after uploading them to tinypic ?

It does not seem to mess with the forum layout as far as I can see.

I guess I'm used to forums autosizing content to match the layout, sorry.

It is not so much about messing the layout, it is more about users with slower net. It quickly adds up once there is 10 or more photos per page (which is very common for WIP topics).

Ok, thanks, I'll try that next time...

Yes, but you can do that for your first post, too.
As noted, you can use any image hosting site and link image with proper size, many sites allow on-site resizing.

Thanks ! ...though not 100% finnished I'm happy with the design and performance sofar, trying to make it a bit stiffer and lighter now without giving up "the cool factor"

vet man, ziet er goed uit. is er ook een filmpje van?

I'm planning to have a friend film it as I don't have a cam, I've spotted a nice indoor location with concrete smooth floor wich will allow it to go full speed and do some crazy spinning without hitting any furniture... though I don't have a youtube acount and never will have as I don't agree to the terms and conditions. So I'll have to find someone who would be willing to upload it for me...

Nice to see someone coming out of his dark age with such an original model . I like its menacing look and would love to see a video. I'm happy to have taken part in drawing your attention to this forum .

Tomorrow after work I'll be taking this baby for a spin in a large garage where all the OBV's are parked, hope to end up with some useable video... Also got some lime parts in from a bricksore, I want to see this baby in black and lime as it is the "Drifkikker" wich translates to "Hothead" ... someone who flies of the handle on regular basis, litterally translates as "rage frog" ... and frogs are green.

Today a friend of mine took some video footage with his phone.

I think the daylight vents in the roof messed with the IR communication too much, it drifts out of range in a second.... this car prefers dark places.

The footage should be here; https://bricksafe.com/pages/Permo/roadkill

Though for me it won't play on my crappy old PC, so if someone could "steel" my videos and make them visible I would be delighted.... :sweet:

Ah thanks, yes that could be it... when I clicked mocbuild's link it opened iin VLC webplayer, somehow I can't get it to work like that.

Indeed when I click a video my PC starts to download it.

I just uploaded one to tinypic http://nl.tinypic.com/r/314s86d/9

This also won't play on my PC as for some reason I can't install flash.... but it might work for you people.

It's your web browser that decides how to play it (or not), some play them in the browser (or browser extension), and some make you download them and play them with a media player. The file format also affects how you play it, as some cannot be played without downloading them.

I would suggest converting them to .MP4, as that is one of the most common video formats. (or if you want, I can convert them and put them together for you )

Oh wow, that's a very generous offer !

I don't have software to change video formats, my PC won't even play the video's, it only shows the first frame and from there there's sound only. (my PC did play your link without problems)

So I still don't know what's on the video's myself.

Please be my guest and turn them into a playable video, I will be very delighted to see it.

Okay, will do tomorrow (it's getting a bit late here), and will send it to you via PM.

Yeah !

There it is; https://bricksafe.com/files/Permo/de-driftkikker/Video.mp4

This will play from your browser without having to download it first.

Thanks a bunch to mocbuild101 for compiling and converting the video's, he did a great job on that and I think this vid gives a good impression of the powerhouse this little ride is.

Some small designchanges are in progress but overall I'm very satisfied with this build.

Have fun !
