Mechbuilds Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 Off brand parts have been a taboo here. Is posting mocs with offbrand parts allowed? I was going to write a review on an offbrand item and i'm wondering if i'm allowed to do so. The item itself is not a complete set but a set of parts that are used with lego bricks to build mocs. Robianco Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 I think the issue with off brands are those that clone Lego sets. I've seen people review things such as Megabloks Star Trek sets so there's no reason you can't post something that contains non-Lego parts as long as it's not seen to be promoting something that is infringing Lego's IP (such as copies of existing Lego sets). It's definitely it's own thing and not imitating anything of lego. It's an accessory for lego parts. You'll see the review in the scifi section once i receive the package. I personally disapprove of just direct clones of lego sets. Thanks for the reply. Quote

If that's the case, I don't see why it would be any different than when people 3D print their own parts or how off things like the rollercoaster kits, etc.. Depending on how it's used you might catch a little flak from hard-core purists, but I think you'll be OK. Quote
