metalandi Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 (edited) I got this overall very sweet set a few days ago, and the only thing i don't like at all is the wide trace of the wheels, and that they are pretty high for an off road vehicle. So i decided to do a very quick modulation, with those great red axes from former 4WD-Vehicles. It's so simple, but yet very effective, and gives it a real off road-look. I got a few pics, so tell me what you think about it! :-D Edited March 6, 2008 by metalandi Quote
Asuka Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 A very fine idea and it really looks very cool! *y* Quote
Batbrick Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 A good little mod there, looks much better and no doubt functions better now *y* To the Bricksignal! >:-) Quote
AgentRick Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Pretty good, but the trailer in the back has to be raised a bit. Other than that, it looks pretty good. Quote
Holodoc Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 Pretty good, but the trailer in the back has to be raised a bit. That would be my advice, too. It looks a bit odd on the first pic. I still can Quote
metalandi Posted March 6, 2008 Author Posted March 6, 2008 I decided to not put the trailer higher, since there are not really existing "off road" trailers i think. but it does look a bit weird, so maybe i'll do a mod on that, too. I simply used those feathered red off road-axes, they look like this (sorry for the blurry picture): Quote
voltio Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Nice work! I guess those red axles you used are either before my time or extremely rare (probably both :'-(), which is a shame; they rock! Great idea, and thanks for showing me a part I have not seen before. Quote
diablorouge Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 I modded my 7942 the same way as you. I also thought it looked a bit odd. Quote
simonwillems Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Nice modification to the original set, but I second the trailer-raising suggestion. Maybe with another of those axles. Nice work! I guess those red axles you used are either before my time or extremely rare (probably both :'-(), which is a shame; they rock! Great idea, and thanks for showing me a part I have not seen before. Well those axles, although long ago used for the last time, are not extremely rare. The part appeared in 16 sets and are available from a price starting at 5 cents on bricklink. It 's really worth considering buying a few. check it out here! Quote
marvinblue Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 Nice simple mod to an already good looking kit! I like it!! :-) Quote
