Chilis Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 Absolutely amazing but WAY complicated for average Joe (me) Quote
Berthil Posted July 28, 2018 Author Posted July 28, 2018 (edited) @Stonehenge I use original hoses as the ones I need are not so long. But for other projects I also use 3-rd party hoses from Modulor in Germany, the ones with 3,2mm outer diameter. In the U.S. McMaster-Carr has them. The ones from Modulor are more shiny and harder which makes them harder to bend and keep a bended shape although you can also use their brass insert in the right diameter (1,5mm). For straight use they are better than the Lego ones. Good luck. Edited July 28, 2018 by Berthil Quote
adwind Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 Great work and interesting topic as well. I would never ever understand why LEGO wouldn't do something like this for themselves (maybe as an add-on) ? Quote
Chiaroscuro Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 Great topic and outstanding idea, Berthil! Adding lights to a modular display really makes the city comes to life. Not only at night time but during daylight too since you can see the interiors (which usually are too dark thus it is not worth to populate them with minifigs). Since I don’t trust my soldering skills (having not done any after college 20 years ago) I started to look for ready to install kits. They are expensive and to be honest I am not happy with the results. First I tried was Detective Office. Thd lights are great but... - their placement not always make sense. Some bricks are changed by others with leds but not all of them (for instance, the lights at the sides of the mirror at the Barbershop are not). - wires, lots of wires and their length sometimes are too short, sometimes too long - plus they are not thin enough, passing them over plates make their connections a little bit too loose. It adds up, so a beautiful Lego model (which system is very milimetrical crafted) loose its sturdiness. - wires through floors are really bad, you cannot easy separe the floors anymore. So I don’t really know what to do... maybe I will try to handmade some solution like yours. The tubes were really a great idea. I am not completely sold on the idea of nails for the floor connection I need to find something different. Keep posting your progress, I am also building the Brickactive modulars. Quote
