I really liked the reconstructed Classic Space sets people have been posting here, so I wanted to take a stab at my own. I decided to start simple and chose a smaller set, the 6803 Space Patrol from 1983. Aside from the colors, I was actually able to rebuild most of the original set in LDD, but got stuck when the I realized the original air raid siren-like engine pieces aren't in LDD. I decided to do something different that would maintain the ideas of multiple thrusters and the model changed greatly from there. Still, the basic elements are still present. Please offer your comments. I dig this design and might upload it to the Factory so I can purchase it.

Awesome, I'm glad to see this idea take off, I'm working on another one myself, the little space buggy 886, but I'm not finished yet so I won't post it

Thanks, Wetwired. Your idea was an excellent one. :-) I have another in the works, too, but it needs some finishing touches.

Very nice, with cool jets and a smart windshield.... hmm, wait, a windshield in space.... nevermind.... 8-| :-D *y*

I'm gonna try it. I don't think I have all the correct pieces (almost typed pizzas, lol) in the correct colors, but I might pick them up on Bricklink and build the ship in colors to match the original.

Yet another nice rebuild, I really like the expanded design of such a simple little ship. I would like to see it in white and blue though, like the original, but I appreciate that some bricks are not available in all colours.

As far as classic space scooters go, there are others that looked more interesting; better bases for rebuild. But I think you can expand on this concept a bit to get something good.

The basic shape is a delta wing, but there is a deal of odd flat space on the nose, perhaps you could add a large slope to that area on your version, LDD has a 2*4*1 slope in blue which would fit your color scheme.

Another issue is, the windscreen in combination with those engine pieces makes it at first glance look like a microscale space fighter.

Since the pilot is exposed anyway, I'd do away with that windscreen and instead develop the nose area (above suggestion) into a wedge/delta sloped shape. Possibly even sweeping back into some kind of tail structure.

While the cool positioning rockets cluster on the original is no longer available... here is a close approximation for you:
